Dan Rather Wins Access to Thousands of Documents in Suit Against CBS
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/22/business/media/22rather.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss

Dan Rather won significant victories Tuesday in his suit against his former network, CBS. He won access to more than 3,000 documents that his lawyer said were expected to reveal evidence that CBS had tried to influence the outcome of a panel that investigated his much-debated “60 Minutes” report about former President George W. Bush’s military record.

Mr. Rather also won an appeal to restore a fraud charge against CBS that had been dismissed. Martin Gold, the lawyer representing the former anchor of the “CBS Evening News,” called it “a very successful day for us; we got everything.”

Mr. Rather called it a “good day” for his side and — referring to the name for the CBS headquarters — “a bad day for Black Rock.”

Jim Quinn, the lawyer representing CBS, called it “a minor skirmish in a long battle” and predicted that the fraud charge would be dismissed again because “it’s frivolous.”

You go Dan. You got railroaded and I hope that you someday get some justice.

And whether Rather can prove that his story about Bush was valid.

That would be so awesome. "Get your AWOL chickenhawk here!!!

6. Yeah but the bushies were slick
having the real documents forged to say the same thing--then stating they were forgeries thereby negating the information they contained.

13. Meanwhile The Networks Invite The Birfers On...
How soon so many forget this story. And it's interesting that the same groups that are hopping up and down and scream for our President's "birth certificate" are also the ones who got so outraged when proof came forward that their manchild was a deserter. While they can't be satisfied with any proof our President is a citizen (cause they're racist bastards) they were all in a tizzy about this story and it ended up costing Dan his job.

Of course we won't hear any coverage of this case or trial...and that's fine with me. I'll be satisfied when Dan wins and CBS has to not only pay out big bucks but also loses what's left of their credibility.

Since Dan's left, I refuse to watch any CBS News except for 60 Minutes...but then with the loss of Walter Cronkite last weekend, it became painfully obvious of how corrupt and obnoxious our corporate media has become. Hopefully Dan will shed light on the inside games.

BTW...also very good news for Mary Mapes...his producer who really took the fall for this thing.

15. The media fawns over Cronkite, but they would have....
dumped on him just as CBS did on Rather if Cronkite had still been working during the Bushco years.

I would love love love to see Dan Rather vindicated.

19. Kick ass, and Rather hard too! Here's a link to old school journalism...
http://loveforlife.com.au/node/6636
It's about the big pharma bogus swine flu shot program of 1976.
I remember investigative journalism.
