Michele Bachmann Opposes Public Option Because It's "Cheaper"
Ha! I love that this article appears in a MN newspaper! What a knucklehead.

Bachmann, Kline oppose public option because it’s ‘cheaper’
By Andy Birkey 7/21/09 3:56 PM

If you’re trying to dissuade someone from buying something, it’s best not to tell them it’s the cheaper option. But that’s the strategy behind some GOP opposition to the “public option” contained in the healthcare reform efforts currently being debated in Washington. U.S. Reps. Michele Bachmann and John Kline say the option is bad for America because it will be cheaper than the health insurance currently breaking the backs of many individuals and small businesses.

On the House floor Monday evening, Bachmann railed against the public option partially because because it will provide cheaper health insurance to millions of Americans.

Approximately 114 million Americans are expected to leave private health insurance. Why? Their employers will drop the insurance because the taxpayer-subsidized plan will be 30 to 40 percent cheaper. This action will collapse the private health insurance market, and then the Federal Government will own the health provider game.

Bachmann’s statement echoes the sentiments expressed by Rep. John Kline in an interview with Minnesota Public Radio’s Tom Crann in late June. He also said that millions of people will flock to the cheaper insurance plan, also called the public option.

It wouldn't collapse the private health insurance market, it would open another avenue for them in the face-lift and boob-job department.

They can still provide insurance for those types of things. Other than that, good riddance.

4. Stupid Is As Stupid Does...
Yep...it's gonna be "cheaper" if you already have the Congressional plan, but it sure isn't cheaper than the insurance millions currently have: none.

The public option is extremely popular and the GOOP and its insurance company moneymen still haven't found the "golden bullet" yet to persuade a majority that healthcare reform is immediately needed and that a public option has to be included. They make up all sorts of shit that tries to make it seem like its the end of the world...well for the rich insurance robber barons, it is.

One of the biggest lies I've heard the last couple days was how the public option would turn healthcare into the "DMV". Now to my knowledge, most DMVs are run by the state, not the federal government. Also, in our state, after years of corruption (under rushpublican George Ryan whose now doing time in the grey bar hotel), the DMV was streamlined by Democrats and became far more efficient. 10 years ago, having my license renewed was an all day fiasco, a couple months ago, I was in and out in under 30 minutes. Yep, letting the government run a program sure makes it worse.

But then, what is the GOOP alternative??? Power of prayer???

:hi:

14. Yep! Just got my Safe Driver Renewal form in the mail yesterday.
Because I've had no tickets or suspensions or anything, all I need to do to renew my driver's license is fill out a form, write a check for $10.00 and drop it in the mail. Thank you, Jesse White!

Bachmann states she was called to run for the seat by God, and that she and her husband fasted for three days to be sure.

15. I will vote for the plan Bachmann is talking about.
According to the CBO, HR 3200 will only enroll 10 Million by 2019, will only be 10% cheaper (maybe)-, and Working Americans who currently get their insurance from their employer will be excluded from the Public Option even if it is cheaper and offers better coverage.

Michelle may be drumming up support FOR HR 3200, the Protect Corporate Profits bill currently in The House.

16. Let's run this by the general public, shall we?
What do you suppose the general response will be from people when they're told that they can have access to health care, for less than they're paying now, but that in exchange, private health insurers will take a financial beating? I'm guessing that people will line up to give a physical beating to insurance company executives to go along with the financial beating.

But for Republicans, that's a bug, not a feature.

market. That's the good news. And Bachmann is an idiot. That's old news.

Followed by plans to oppose energy conservation because it doesn't waste enough.

21. At least she's not afraid to show where her loyalties are placed
They're with the health insurance industry's profits and not with the pocketbooks and health of the people. That's the only good thing I can say about this creature.
