This morning I read this piece of crap:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20090720/cm_csm/yakers("What if I don't want health insurance?")
The one encouraging thing is that we're now a "crowd" ("the universal healthcare crowd"), which indicates some critical mass. (There are "crowds" and "communities," depending on whether or not they agree.)
Anyway, it's amazing how they can hold two totally conflicting thoughts in their heads at the same time, such as:
1. If everyone had access to health care, it would mean rationing services so we'd all have inadequate care.
AND
It would be too expensive because doctors would do excessive, unnecessary tests and procedures for the money.
2. The government would run health care, and they're terrible at that. There are long lines at the DMV, you know.
AND
The public option would be so attractive, it'd put private insurance companies out of business.
3. I don't want the government standing between me and my medical needs.
AND
It works just fine having a for-profit insurance company standing between me and my medical needs.
4. Why should I pay in if it benefits other citizens, if I stay healthy?
AND
I love my country, just not my government! USA!! USA!! USA!!
