In an email I received from the President, how should I interpret the following? |
|

If you already have health insurance: reform will provide you with more security and stability. It will limit your own out of pocket costs and prevent your insurance company from dropping your coverage if you get too sick. You'll also have affordable insurance options if you lose or change your job. And it will cover preventive care like check-ups and mammograms that save lives and money.
If you don't have health insurance: you will finally have guaranteed access to quality, affordable health care, and you can choose the plan that best suits your family's needs. And no insurance company will be allowed to deny you coverage because of a pre-existing medical condition.
Does it mean I'm stuck in my present insurance with its current costs?

or perhaps if you have an employer paying for your private insurance they may drop you and tell you to go ahead and take the public option cause they aren't paying anymore.
Maybe they will even split the company savings with you and give you a pay raise.

2. No. It is meant to reassure you that your current option won't |
|
go away. Polling shows that the vast majority of healthy Americans polled want to keep their current coverage. (Only 56% of Americans with a chronic illness feel the same) This is a counter to the Republican argument that we will all be forced into a public option.

3. They want to keep their current coverage not their current premiums |

5. I think your employer has the option to add the public option to their roster. |
|
I imagine most will not.
If you don't have employer-provided health insurance, I think you can opt for the public option.

7. Then I'd go for the public option, if I were you. If my employer offered it, I'd take it. |
|
I'm looking forward to the president's speech tonight.

8. It depends if it has adequately been sabotaged |
|
to be as expensive as a private policy. I will examine the cost and fine print of coverage.
