The birth certificate, vs certificate of live birth shows how stupid some people are to obsess.. |
|
The long form is an exact copy of the original hospital "for show" certificate that do many of us have, but is not what you use for legal status.
The short form of certificate of live birth, is what we use to prove we are citizens to get passports etc.
Now the republicans are fully mooning themselves in the mirror trying to say that the state records certified by state officials that everyone uses is now in question. According to the birthers.. ALL OF US ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PROVE WE ARE CITIZENS, because our state verification forms are wrong??? That instead of a certified document to prove who we are.. we will all have to run out and get photo shopped copies of the "for show" certificates that the hospital gives out.
Can you imagine how the Lou Dobbsies of the world would love that.
Good job Obama crew.. they (the republicans, birthers and their supporters) look dumber by the minute. You know the powers that be are letting this go and letting the looney tunes show themselves for what they are.
It is just delicious.

if for no other reason let the birthers increase the length and thickness of the rope with which they are hanging themselves.

5. It will turn out that the loon in DE is the cousin of the |
|
"Obama's a Muslim" lady that McCain confronted late in the campaign.
BTW - the DE lady getting the room to rise to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and the audience's spontaneous emphasis on the words "under god" while they were reciting it are perfect examples of what Obama was talking about when he said that people cling to their religion and their guns.

7. I heard that, and I the women in the back of the room, sort of stood up |
|
out of fear almost. They were looking around embarrassed, as this group went ballistic. And then how everyone kowtowed to what the loonies insisted on and yelled at the top of their voice.. what next my husband said.. a book burning.. I would not have been surprised

15. That's funny, I always omit the words, "under god"... |
|
Here's MY Pledge.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, And to the republic for which it stands. One nation, with liberty and justice for rich white men only.
Nobody has even batted an eye when I recite it in public!

4. Do you remember the movie "The Wiz"? |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 06:01 PM by Peacetrain
People would change the color they were wearing when the Wiz would say this is the cool color of the day. That is what the republicans are doing. They are doing a 180 on what they say they believe in. The logic for them is any thing that attacks Obama, even if it is totally illogical.

9. It is not totally ilogical.... at least not to those getting the whistles |
|
And that is what worries me.
They are doing a persecution of the president II to be honest. That had its twisted logic too... and some of us said this would start the day after the election. Ok, we were wrong, it started the day after the Democratic Convention.

years ago, before I entered the Army, I had to send off for my birth certificate and was sent the "long form" -- completely written out by the attending midwife.
a couple months ago, due to job requirements, I had to send off for it again (I have no idea what happened to my original), and was sent the "short form" (certificate of live birth).
I suspect they don't release the long forms anymore.....

10. Exactly. It's like when you get married at a church. |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 06:14 PM by stopbush
The church gives you a fancy document saying where you got married, who married you etc. The minister signs it. This document has no legal standing.
The document that does have standing is the marriage license which is issued by the state. When I got married, we went to the county courthouse to get the marriage license pre-ceremony. After we signed everything and paid our fee, the clerk informed us that we were now legally married in the eyes of the state. That's sort of shocked me at the time, but when you think about it, it's no different from the state's perspective than is being issued a state driver's license - no one has to have a ceremony performed for the state to consider you a legal driver. You pay the fee, you're a driver. You pay the fee, you're married. The state/county government records the salient information about when and where and to whom you were born and issues a document certifying your birth, that's it.
