propaganda media and a truth media. It's time we started distinguishing about where we get our current events information in those terms. Because the neo-cons through FOX News and their talk show hosts Rush/Bill/Sean were able to make legitimate broadcasters like Dan Rather, Bill Moyers and Amy Goodman look like partisan kooks by labeling them as liberals, well sourced news and information was relegated to the "looney left"; not to be trusted. Once that was accomplished, there was no problem with the Bush White House and RNC feeding the news stories to FOX and the other cable channels as well as the broadcast channels as factual and no other need to ask those pesky questions, what, why, when, how, where and who. Other than the inroads of progressive radio on low powered stations, the short lineup of progressive hosts on MSNBC and the comedy shows that make fun of the news, legitimate, unbiased news sources are still waging an uphill battle to be heard. In spite of it we have a Democratic President and Congress, even though in most countries the ideology coming out of them would be considered conservative.

Now I thought maybe we had fought the battle half way up the hill, when I'm waiting in line at a clothing store yesterday and then the middle aged woman in front of me asked the young college aged clerk why she was sweating and the girl answered that it's been too hot and it's probably global warming. The woman said there was no such thing. Well, I shouldn't have but I did, and I said that there is global warming. Islands are sinking in the Pacific and glaciers are melting world wide. She said I sounded like Al Gore. I really got mad then and said, it's because of ignorant people like you that Al Gore wasn't President for eight years instead of George Bush. Imagine not having two wars, trillions of dollars in debt, Katrina and there would have been no 9-11 because Al Gore would have taken intelligence seriously. The woman left quickly with her packages. It was my turn at the counter and I said to the clerk, I've noticed the difference even here. We don't have the rainy seasons like we used to. By then I realized that everyone had stopped talking and was listening to me. So I paid and left before I was asked to. LOL!

So today, I go to work and get involved in a conversation with my boss about birthers. I said something to him about no one objecting to John McCain being born in Panama where there might have been an issue, however, small, but to claim Obama isn't a citizen even though he was born in Hawaii was ridiculous. Then my mostly liberal, although not very politically astute boss (he gets most of his information from me) suddenly comes up with this nonsense that he doesn't trust Obama because he's Muslim. I said excuse me you voted for him and he did. He said that's before he knew he was Muslim. I replied that he isn't Muslim but Christian. But he has a Muslim family and they taught him the Koran. I said, his white, Christian grandparents raised him. But he insisted that he had studied the Koran and I said so what? Maybe he wanted to know about his heritage. You are Jewish and study the Torah because you want to know your heritage. He then got very silent because he couldn't answer me, but it occurred to me that he is listening to some crap on the radio because he started advertising on the radio and those talk show people are still pushing that meme.

So when I'm driving home from work, I turn on the only liberal station on that has a weak signal, which is why my boss doesn't advertise on them and I got there in time for Ed Schultz to yell at some caller that it was people like him who have put the American people through Hell with eight years of Bush and now they want to rob them of their health care. I thought damn that is just the way I'm feeling about all these lies that the propagandists are putting out there. It's not being right or left. It's about being liars or telling the truth and that's the way I'm framing it from now on.

"Please turn off Fox News. If I wanted to listen to liars, I'd go to the Casino and play poker."
