What/Who Do You Consider To Be The Wacko Wing of the Dem Party?
You know we have one, just by the nature of who and what political parties are. Who do you think qualifies on our side of the fence?

I don't know, I'm asking.

5. I agree.
I believe they should form their own party so that the moderate Republicans can join them and make a real business oriented conservative party and leave the Chrisitan Fascists on their own as what's left of the GOP. Then the Democrats can go back to their roots as the party of the working class who believe in social justice for all.

4. Name callers of anyone who disagrees with any of their believes because they irrationally
believe they know everything and are right about everything. Anyone who dehumanizes those who think different from them. These attributes are the same as the radical right - they just demonize different things but their attitudes and hatred appear identical.

8. It's a variety of groups, actually.
The psycho-racist PUMAs. The 9/11 Truthers. The people who believe that anyone who doesn't start lining up the capitalists and executing them is a fascist Bush-lite pig.

15. Well technically if you're going to use the label Democrat, it would have to be...
Lyndon LaRouche.

I mean, the guy is stark raving insane. We may not think of him as a Democrat, but that's what he has called himself.

17. I agree with those who say "Blue Dogs". One thing, however ...
... just because the GOP's rabid base is getting press, it does not necessarily mean there is a "wacko" wing on the left side.

Or, that they would necessarily be comparably as rabid.

19.  Wacko Wing of the Dem Party would certainly include those who opppose the right to keep and bear
arms protected by the Second Amendment.

SCOTUS said "it has always been widely understood that the Second Amendment, like the First and Fourth Amendments, codified a pre-existing right. The very text of the Second Amendment implicitly recognizes the pre-existence of the right and declares only that it “shall not be infringed.” As we said in United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U. S. 542, 553 (1876), “{t}his is not a right granted by the Constitution. Neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence. The Second amendment declares that it shall not be infringed . . . .”

Anyone who does not recognize the law of the land is clearly a prime candidate of the Wacko Wing of the Dem Party .

It's also one of the most damaging wing, as this wing loses us a TON of support in middle America.

24. 84 million gun-owners in an electorate of 215 million. No intelligent presidential candidate would
anger them.

That's why Obama successfully walked away from his anti-gun history after saying "I believe in the Second Amendment. I believe in people's lawful right to bear arms. I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won't take your handgun away."

28. Our wackos are mostly harmless compared to theirs.
Theirs believe in creationism and want to teach intelligent design in schools. Ours believe in new age stuff and want to align your chakras. Theirs mistakenly think that their militias would actually be able to stand up to the federal government. Ours mistakenly think that peace marches will actually have an effect on foreign policy.

I know those particular examples will probably piss a few people off but there's a broader point behind it. Both sides have people who are anti-science, who reject logical thinking, or who favor naive and hopelessly idealistic tactics. However ours tend to be mostly harmless and even potentially fun and inspiring while theirs tend inevitably toward violence and authoritarianism.

I was going to mention the DLC as others have, but they're really not wackos. They're serious, well organized corporate interests -- the same people who are in charge of the Republican party. The wackos may make up a large chunk of the Republican base and they may even be the public face of the party (through politicians, pundits, etc) but they're not the ones really calling the shots at the end of the day. Those are the same corporate masters who control the conservative and DLC wing of the Democratic party.

This is why the Republican party seems to be in a shambles at the moment -- left leaderless and in the hands of the party's biggest wackos. The corporate interests who call the shots simply have no need for that party at the moment. When the pendulum swings the other way they'll be back to take advantage of whoever is in power at the moment.
