I could take Michael Jackson dying.

I could take Sarah Palin quitting.

I could even take the Rick Warren brouhaha from half a year ago.

But this crap is like a broken record. There's no substance. No arguments. No defense or offense or anything.

It's like trying to argue with someone who lives in a desert whether rain is wet or not.

It's more than just a non-issue. It's an UN-issue. It's a nega-issue. It's where issue itself goes to die.

ARRRRGH!!! x(

1. Go rent Persecution of the President
then put it in that context.

It will make sense...

And I must say, this is not funny.

3. I googled that
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 06:48 PM by SleeplessInAlabama
and nothing specific came up for a movie....

Who produced it?

Anyway I have to say *I think* it is not an 'un-issue' because it's so pervasive. It would be one thing if it was just freepers bitching about the BC. But it's not. It's "regular people" (term used loosely) at town halls, teabag parties and Republican luncheons. They live in Delaware and they live down the road from me. And the sheer hatred is blinding.

5. PLEASE. That's the media perception...
...the last time I saw a poll about this, the number was about 8% of the country went along with this nonsense.

9. I don't know
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 06:59 PM by SleeplessInAlabama
Maybe I'm biased by my location. Maybe it is only 8% nationally. But one in twelve people believing something so patently ridiculous to me, is kind of a big deal.

It's a nonstarter as far as real legal action, and we all know that, but to me, I can't marginalize one in twelve when they're so rabid about it.

4. Try to appreciate the comic relief.
The Family and the neocons, those are some real sinister people. But birthers, Palin, and 'pious' GOP scandals, that's for fun.

Quick, how many birthers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Wheeeeeee!!!!

I heard on TV yesterday that James von Brunn, who killed the security guard at the holocaust museum, was a birther. All the same, birthers are usually a source of amusement for me these days. When I reply to their emails, I have even stopped linking to the many sources that soundly refute every one of their fantasies. I just make fun of them because they're stooped.

15. Well, you are agreeing about not wanting to hear anymore about it , yet you started
a thread calling for Obama to show his birth certificate.

Pardon me if I see a conflict of interest in that.

19. No conflict really...
The OP said, "this is stupid". I'm frustrated that this kind of crap gets attention when it should be easy to debunk. Of course, I would never have guessed that there were actually a percentage of the population that didn't believe we went to the moon. But alas, I'm a scientist and engineer, sometimes what is natural logic to me is lost on so many.... *sigh.

Peace,
MZr7

20. Get used to hearing THIS from me:
Barack Obama has produced, and displayed on the internet for all to see, a certified copy of his HI birth record, which is a "true and correct copy" and constitutes FULL LEGAL PROOF of his birth in HI in 1961. Case closed.

Anyone stupid enough to pursue this in court WILL lose, BTW. Because a certified copy is the gold standard of legal proof.
