The Healthcare Meetings between the White House and the Healthcare Industry WERE COVERED by C-SPAN
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 07:58 PM by berni_mccoy
There is another thread here and a story at HuffPo re-printed from the AP that claims Obama broke his promise about having C-SPAN covering the meetings with the Healthcare Industry.

Well, they DID cover them and it only took 2 minutes to search C-SPAN for this information.

Here is the kick-off meeting in APRIL of this year: http://www.c-span.org/Watch/Media/2009/04/08/HP/A/17243/White+House+On+Health+Reform.aspx

There are many more meetings held by the Administration the House and the Senate covered by C-SPAN that include testimony and providers from the healthcare industry.

Just search C-SPAN videos for Healthcare and you'll find the answer. Here's a link for the lazy http://www.c-span.org/search.aspx?For=healthcare . Go to the bottom of the page and jump to page 13 to find the above video.

I believe this report by the AP and reprinted at HuffPo is just to create more division among the left about this issue. It is the SOP of the AP to try to divide us with false, yet seemingly true stories. Sadly too many here jump on these without doing any fact-checking.

2. Yes they were. I watched a good portion of the senate mark up
and also the house mark up meetings on C-span. I am sure C-span has to pick and choose because they can't cover everything. But some of the meetings that weren't televised, I noticed were taped and could be brought up on c-span later on, on their web site.

6. Question....What does the "markup" mean?
I get the general gist of it from the context, but I don't know what it actually is supposed to mean.

7. When the language of the bill is being adjusted and amendments can be made in committee
Before it is voted on in committee to be released to the House for a floor vote.

11. Thanks! As I said, I got the context, but "language" adjustment, etc., really helps.

9. You're right, fact-checking is crucial. Nowadays, you have to take what...
some of the corporate-owned msm, and some newspapers say and print with a grain of salt. Can't get it twisted, these organizations exist only to get viewers and subscribers for their sponsors, and to further the agendas of their owners. Nothing else (relaying the truth to the people)matters.
