Worried about the privacy of your medical records ? |
|
What's the difference? All of your insurance claims are processed in India anyway by insurance companies that have shipped American IT jobs there.
I'm sure they're all concerned about keeping your claim info private over there.

1. I have to give them to umpteen hundred low paid clerks every time I go to a doctor |
|
And that does not count the clerks at the insurance company, just the ones in the doctors' offices, and the physical therapy center, and any other clinic I visit. I don't even want to think about who gets access through my insurance company!

3. Everything is for sale there |
|
I remember a free-trade freeper I used to debate. He changed his mind when his firm sacked him and moved to India. I'd like politicians to have to have no choice, no power, and no hope too.

5. And why do you think processing in India is less secure than processing in North America? |

7. You can still sue the company that had is processed in the US courts for a HIPPA violation |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 09:54 PM by RB TexLa
edited as to who can be sued, the company that contracts out the work is still responsible for violations. Most have it in the contract that any fines resulting from the processing companies fault is paid to them by the Indian company doing the processing.

10. Not exactly true, the data and mainframes are still here. |
|
I've worked for several insurance companies that have work outsourced to India. Here is how it works. The actual data and the mainframes are still here where they have been. Programmers in India work with programs, JCL, ect remotely but are not allowed to use production data to test (though some companies do allow this). Nothing is actually processed in India, only the programming is done there.

16. I would not be surprised |
|
Ones I have worked for that I know do not are Nationwide, Wausau, Colonial and Liberty Mutual. I cannot say for anyone else but these all had very strong concerns about letting any production data be available to off shore programmers and forbid it. I have not worked for any company that allowed it. If you are aware of any that do allow it, you should state who they are so people know.
