2. And as badly as I want to go to Mars, I have to agree.
I will say that there's a slight flaw in this thinking though, at least in reality. And that's when people say we should spend the money used for space exploration on helping to feed the poor, or the example of polio in the OP, I think we all know it won't really be spent on those things at all. It'll just go down into the money pit. I'd rather see money spent on space exploration than war, for instance. We could have gone to Mars and back with the money we spend in Irag...in a month.

In an ideal world our sentiment would apply, but in this one I think we're just fooling ourselves. :(

4. Considering the advances in science and technology because...
of the space program, it could be possible that striving to reach Mars would provide the necessary tools to accomplish the first choice.

Now I am not a fan of putting a man on Mars, the probabilities and complications may just be too high, but, I do understand the fact that such endeavors produce multitudes of technology advancements.


But we should always take care of humanity here on earth before taking to he heavens.
