GOP Congressional Report Accuses ACORN of Political Corruption, Widespread Fraud
House Republicans issuing a report Thursday accusing ACORN of fraudulent activities and widespread corruption, concluding a criminal investigation into the advocacy group is needed

FOXNews.com

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

A new report from Republicans on a House oversight committee accuses ACORN of fraudulent activities and widespread corruption and calls for a criminal investigation into the advocacy group.

ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform, has been under constant fire from conservatives since last year for its support of Barack Obama's presidential candidacy and its planned participation in next year's 2010 census.

But the report -- to be released Thursday by Rep. Darrell Issa, the top Republican on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and Issa's GOP colleagues -- offers the first detailed account of the allegations that have dogged the organization in recent months.

The executive summary of the report says ACORN provided contributions of financial and personnel resources to indicted former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown and candidate Obama, among others, in what the report calls a scheme to use taxpayer money to support a partisan political agenda, which would be a clear violation of numerous tax and election laws.

1. I'm confused
Now republicans think corruption is bad and criminal investigations are good.

Republicans release a congressional report and Fox "News" reports it.

2. do to them what they did to the Democrats and make them have a partisan
investigation in a basement room too small to gather more than a few 'acorns'!

3. I suspect
that this gets about as far as the re-branding the Democratic Party as the "Socialist Democrat Party".

4. What this says is..
ACORN must be doing a hell of a job signing up new Democrats to vote or why would the Repugs bother. Do you ever get the feeling that the Republicans really don't believe in democratic elections? No that couldn't be could it?

5. Someone in the media has to just stomp on this.
When will a good reporter just go through the evidence and report the facts of how the repukes are spinning lies and telling fables about this. Good journalism is NOT just taking two people with different opinions and putting them in a room and giving them equal time (yeah right) to blather.

This phoney controversy should have been put to bed years ago. The VICTIM of the fraud was Acorn. They hired people to register voters and the people they hired turned in fraudulent registrations for people that would never, ever show up to vote because they didn't exist. How is this a crime BY acorn?

Actual repuke election fraud is far more pervasive, far more illegal, and oh yeah it actually friggin happened.
