YEAH!!!!! My son finally has a JOB!! He just called me a few minutes ago. He's was
a bit miffed, he's been jumping through hoops the last couple days for a company, just to be put on a waiting list. Well he, just on a whim, called back one of the others he contacted and they needed ONE person. He starts tonight. It's only $9 an hour but when you're making $0 an hour it's all good. We have been helping support him and his family since December (when he got laid-off) now maybe we can go back to a semblance of normalcy!:woohoo:

6. Take the money you've been giving him and try to save it.
Or at least some of it. Ya never know.

You've been doing without it for awhile already, so keep trying to do without it for a bit, and build yourself up a little nest egg. It's always good to have a little put aside, just in case.

7. I know, I've been thinking the same thing. There are so many things we've done without because of
helping him, I'm thinking we can just forget we ever "needed" them to begin with.

8. Give yourself a little treat, why not, but if you can "do without" in these times, it's
a prudent move. If things turn around totally and life gets real good, real quick, why, you'll be able to have one helluva Christmas!

12. Living on $9 / hr is no easy feat.
I'm single, and that's what I make.

After rent and utilities are paid, I have enough left for food, toiletries (and other necessities of life) and that's about it.

And I don't drive or own a car.

I wish your son nothing but the best of luck, but if he hasn't already, have him look into public assistance of any sort available ASAP. He's going to need it, especially if he has children.

Hell, he's going to need it even if he is childless.

Did I mention that I have a Masters in History?

Yeah. Nine bucks an hour. Thank various Deities that I know my way around a kitchen...

13. Good for him and good for you!
Working and earning a paycheck is important to helping young folks find their way and remain optimistic. It teaches so much about the real world, too.

17. congrats!
My daughter just got a job this last week, with things how they are I was worried. She's also not making a lot, but she shares a house with 4 other people, and a few of them are in food service/distribution. As a result, they have more fresh produce than they know what to do with.
