Do we need another war protest in DC?? |
|
I don't think this administration is going to get us out of Iraq or Afganistan during its tenure. SO I was wondering whether or not Obama would react any different than "W" did to a good ole war protest. I wonder if organizing one for this year is out of the question..

2. Not if it's another one of those "Let's protest ten thousand stupid issues, half of which |
|
the majority of the assembled crowd do not agree with and would prefer to eschew any association with..."
That's the trick of those "organizers." They lure people to DC with a war protest, and then harangue them for eons about bullshit unrelated to the war. CSPAN covers the whole schmear, and it gives people an inaccurate impression of the feelings and tenor of the entire antiwar movement.
It looks like a Protest Mish Mash. Diluted and not effective.

As we all know, most (me too) antiwar activists spent all last year helping to get Obama elected. I still strongly believe that was the right decision.
But that was last year. It's clear by now that Obama needs a substantial push from his supporters who are against both wars (a majority of Democratic voters) to speed up the withdrawal in Iraq and accept that Afghanistan is a quagmire that has no end in sight. Just like the 19th century occupiers (the British) and the 20th century (the Russians), our 21st century military effort is doomed to failure or perhaps stalemate.
So who do we want to be the last to die in Bush's wars?
It's time for a antiwar mobilization. Yes it is.

7. No...not willing to substitute my judgment for Obama'a... |

While there is no doubt that W's motivations were not valid and his competence was non-existent, I cannot say the same about Obama.
He has shown good judgment so far on the vast majority of his decisions. Right now I trust he is doing what he thinks best to get to the goals he laid down in the campaign...
