"As goes Thursday so goes the week"
Ron, a fellow I used to work for who traded stocks with some gusto, was enamored of the old phrase "As goes thursday so goes the week." He used it to mean that the general movement of the stock market on thursday signaled its general direction for the week that would follow.

The DOW is well above 9,000 here near the close of the day, up nearly 200 points for the day. Sure hope old Ron was right.

1. Not me. I want the whole system coming down, crashing...

Just kidding - I am hoping my 401K goes back to normal again soon...

2. But where are the jobs?
Without jobs there can be no recovery. Most of the prosperity since Reagan has been financial bubble blowing and mountains of debt. Average Americans haven't seen an increase in buying power since Old Ronnie was compos mentis.

4. Positive numbers on new home sales - third straight month and
a bunch of better than expected earnings reports.

6. That should be easy to check
I wonder if the history of the DJIA supports that. (I'm too lazy to check.)

7. We can join hands and be apathetic together
Yeah, I guess if I really cared I could find out easily enough. Of course if it were true the "rocket scientists" would have stumbled over it by now and it would be pretty well known - or would it?
