President Obama was riding in the front of the bus last night |
|
I have to admit that I am a little late to the conversation but here is my take on President Obama's statement heard round the world. It was not only appropriate, it was very necessary. What better opportunity and what better spokesman to shine a light on a very real and continuing form of racism that exists among our nations police departments. Here we have a situation that was so blatant and so very stupid and when the President courageously says just that...gasp....people are just shocked. Give me a break. What he did was call out the honor and integrity of our nations finest and we can't have that can we? We all know that the police can't be corrupted or biased. They are all naturally honest, upstanding men and woman simply because they took a job that puts their lives in danger.(Sarcasm notation for those who don't get it) A better opportunity may never exist to call this shit out for what it is yet we have people here that are cowering in the fear of potential political backlash. I call bullshit. My commander in chief did the right thing and that is coming from a white female who has never been arrested.

1. I, too, liked the use of the word 'stupid' because it is correct. But, today I was glad he |

noted that Gates could have toned it down.
Gates was understandably confused as to why there was a cop at his door. I wonder how well the officer explained that he was called to the house. But, when a cop comes to your door, it's time to play it cool. It sounds like Gates got pissed. No matter how justified - very - he should have played it cool. He should just say he'd just gotten off a long flight and hadn't slept or something. It's probably true.

2. I flinched when he said "stupidly" - |

it was wrong. Obama blew it. When there's an ongoing investigation, no matter how well you know the man involved, no matter how sure you are of what happened, no matter what your personal experiences may have been, you are the President of the United States, and your comments are going to go around the world.
That comment was supremely injudicious and - yes -stupid................

today that most of my monthly pension would be needed just to cover the cost of Medicare supplement insurance once I reach that age.
I am thinking of starting a radio station with the promise that no song would be repeated for 73 days....

insurance industry is such a scam, they know the odds, we are in the dark. It doesn't take much thought to realize that if they can pay their executives multi-million dollar bonuses, the odds aren't with the consumer. They should be required to pay out x% of premiums as benefits.
I actually could only promise that no album would be repeated for 73 days.
