1. Gordon Liddy is not American he was born in Saudi Arabia and is a terrorist sleeper
at least there is as much evidence for that conclusion about Gordon as he has that Obama is not an American.

3. Liddy seems to be failing -
it was kind of cruel for Tweety to have him on the air. The man's clearly not in command of all his faculties - not that he ever was.

What does it mean when a news program solicits the opinion of a third-rate, convicted felon radio host who's never done a thing for his country except try to aggrandize his own sick self?

Liddy was an embarrassment. Maybe that was the point?

5. Technically, he is correct.
I found out the hard way when applying for a passport.

The Certificate I had used to obtain Driver's Licenses, play Little League Baseball, join the Navy, etc., was a Certificate of Birth (issued by the State of Washington) and not a legitimate Birth Certificate.

I tried to use my hospital certificate to get my kids enrolled in elementary school. I soon found out that I had to present one which had the State Seal on it.

Your experience and mine are kinda the same and kinda different.

And I got a copies of birth certificates with the State Seal was embossed on it. It's a Certificate of Live Birth. (That's what it says, really.)

I think we both had the same experience. Keepsake certificates issued by the hospital (is that what birthers mean by "long form"?) are not legal documents.

57. Re: the "long" form...
My guess (as if I could understand the mind of a freeper), is that they're referring to the full birth certificate, which includes not only legal information but also medical risk factors. For an example, see the current U.S. standard certificate of live birth at http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/birth11-03final-ACC.pdf.

However, the "long form" wasn't adopted until 1979 (and has been revised several times since). Prior to that, it was the legal info only, or the upper part of the BC. So, there was no "long form" in 1961 when Obama was born.

Edited on Thu Jul-23-09 07:03 PM by NutmegYankee
I had that happen when I was getting my learners permit way back when. Had to get an "official" stamped copy.

On edit: I'll note that I still got my permit, since we told the lazy DMV people to just pull it up from the computer database. They confirmed where I was born, and gave me my permit with the statement to get a "real" birth certificate. As you can tell, this was all well before 9/11.

Yes, it's copy, hence the certification. The original doesn't leave the state health department.

The document is labeled a Certificate of Live Birth. It's a birth certificate.

Just relaying a personal experience.

The State of Texas was pretty adamant about the whole deal.

But I have a totally bogus, non-existent CA address on both my DL and passport. That's how fucked up things are. Hell, I cannot send a package on UPS without a correct address. I guess their system is better than the State of CA and the passport office.

By the way, what is "teh"? I have oft wondered.

Here is a link to the U.S. Standard Certificate of Live Birth

http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/birth11-03final-ACC.pdf

Each state has the perogative to make modifications, but most state standard B.C.'s look at a lot like this. The medical/health data (lower half) were not added until about 30 years ago, so would not have been present when President Obama was born.

Note the title at the top. It's a birth certificate.

all it has on it is name, parents' names/ages, county of birth (nothing about hospital, Dr., anything else like that), DOB, certificate number, and the fact that it's an official copy of the birth certificate.

it's what I used to get my passport

46. The medical information doesn't come with the certified copy of your BC, just the legal part.
Were you born after 1979? Back in the day (pre-electronic BC submission that came on line in the 90s), the BC was actually perforated between the legal and medical information, and the data were entered separately.

The medical information is used to analyze risk factors for infant mortality, low birth weight, etc. It's interesting what things they decide to include as interest in new risk factors emerge. For example, with this latest revision, they've added ART - whether the pg was the result of assisted reproductive technology. It's been difficult to determine how much of the rise in preterm birth rates we're seeing is due to ART.

had to be 'updated' post 9/11 to satisfy social services requirement. The document, issued in Colorado, is titled "Certificate of Vital Record." The old one, also issued by the state, had been good for over 50 years. It was titled "standard certificate of birth." Go figure.

13. My Passport says I was born in DC and it gives the date - they required paperwork
To get that Passport I had to obtain an original issue birth certificate from Washington DC. It cost me fifty bucks to get an official copy and they used that to verify the place of birth shown on the Passport. So the Passport confirms where I was born just as well as the original document. So what does it say on the President's Passport? That's all the proof that is required to my mind. Actually no proof is required to my mind. If I had run and won nobody on earth would question my word that I had been born in DC or anyplace else I might claim. There is no reason to challenge the President's word either.

The xenophobic idiots in the lege here passed a new law that after expiration, they can only be renewed by
showing an 'official' Birth Certificate. The only one I ever had/have is a hospital document (from 67 years ago) and they would not accept that. I pointed out that it was good enough to get me into the Air Force but they were not impressed. So I said "well shit, the government accepted it for my PASSPORT"....

"Oh," said the civil servant clerk, "If you have a passport we can use THAT" I brought in my passport which was ALSO expired but it worked like a charm. Got my DL renewed in 5 minutes.
