I'm waiting for the so-called "responsible" Republicans to publicly disavow the racist bile
being spewed by malignant moral pygmies like Liddy, Limbaugh and "the lady in red" when they rant about Barack Obama being an "illegal alien" and, therefore, Constitutionally unqualified to serve as President. So far, all I've seen is a succession of political whores trying to feign serious concern for the "legality" and "constitutionality" of the Obama administration. Of course, the room-temperature IQ's who actually BELIEVE this psycho nonsense aren't bright enough to understand that Ol' Rush and the boys are just using them---again---to try to diminish a president they can't TOUCH on the facts.

I plan to email my Republican congressman and ask him---yes or no---if he agrees with the Birther's assertion that the President is not a US citizen. I watched Chris Mathews put one of the GOP Congressional Birthers on the spit the other evening. There should be a lot more of that. Actually, why couldn't some real JOURNALIST ask my "yes or no" question to all 535 members of Congress and all 50 state governors?

I just reviewed this before posting and I see two glaring mistakes: "responsible Republicans" and "journalists" are about as common nowadays as passenger pigeons and dodo birds. My bad.

1. They are doing things Bush style
That is, make up some phony excuse, do things according to the phony excuse, and win.

Only, we control the Congress and the White House.

3. The Responsible Republicans meet weekly in a broom closet.
All three of them.

4. We don't need Matthews bullying another spineless and brainless pol . . .
Into anything. We need Matthews and his colleagues to collectively say: "This is total bullshit. Let's talk about something (anything!) real."

The "responsible Republicans" are loving this. Sure they know it's total crapola, but it keeps their shrinking army of moron-Americans drooling vigorously, and that's all they've got these days (oh yeah -- that and all the money, of course).

6. I would prefer your alternative also if I thought
it likely that Mathews and even MOST of his colleagues would brand the Birther crap as "total bullshit" and move on to something real. But, as long as the "patriots" at FOX and the likes of Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reilly, et al are screaming their lies into their mikes on a daily basis, I want someone forcefully contradicting them.
Thanks for you response.

9. While expecting reasonable, responsible behavior from Limbaugh, et al . . .
is a hopeless case, to continue "forcefully contradicting them" will just keep the story alive. Obama *has* forcefully contradicted them to the extent probity and dignity allow: he's voluntarily released an authenticated document that -- to any rational or honest person -- closes the issue. The State of Hawaii backs him up.

Let's keep in mind: Birthers are made up of two types of people, dishonorable opportunists and stupid fucks (there may be some crossover in those categories). Nothing will shut them up as long as the media continues to give this story play. Once the media looses interest, the story will go on the shelf with all the other tinfoil hat stories the wingnuts have tried to gin up over the years.

I'm just looking forward to when the next shiny or grotesque event captures media attention (any celebrities feeling poorly out there?), and this story farts itself to its well deserved oblivion. In the meantime, let's not dignify it with a response that's already been given.

11. I see your point, but I don't agree with it.
I think a guy named Kerry relied upon the Swift Boat morons to be "farted into oblivion" by a missing blond girl or a shark attack. Surely, "rational and honest" people would see through their outrageous lies. That "dignified" approach SHOULD have been enough, but we wound up with the Chimp for eight years.

Unfortunately, we live in a society where a bogus "scream" video can take down a brilliant presidential candidate and purple band-aids and chants of "flip-flop" can cost an election.

"You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That's* the *Chicago* way! And that's how you get Capone!"---Officer Malone, played by Sean Connery in "The Untouchables".

I wanna "Get Capone".

12. I can quibble whether you want to stomp on ants when the termites are eating your house . . .
But how about this: Next press conference, first person who mentions "Birth Certificate" gets a stern tongue lashing from Gibbs, the theme of which is "Grow up and be professional. We've answered this already. This administration uses its time on real issues. How about you do the same?"

And as I recall, Kerry (who ran a B- campaign, at best), let the Swiftboating ferment for weeks before he responded. And the hit to his credibility was as much that he didn't have a firm answer when it would have done some good as it was that he falsified 30-year-old war records.

Aside from the professional sleazebag contingent, Birthers are indistinguishable from snake handlers and should be treated about the same way.
