Max Baucus going on vacation
Email my husband sent out this morning to everyone we knew via email and Facebook...

"If this doesn't get done and you can't change jobs because of a pre-existing illness (either yourself, your spouse or a child) or you lose your job and your health insurance, or you see your out of pocket premiums go up by double digits yet again, or you are denied coverage on a needed medical procedure, or you can't retire because you can't afford to pay health insurance premiums (to a company whose profits are sky rocketing by over 60%), or you go bankrupt because you had to pay tens of thousands of dollars in a co-payment, don't bitch to me if you did nothing during this critical period...because in the end you got just what you deserved.

At least I try..."

Letter sent to the "blue dog" Democrat, Senator Max Baucus; chairperson of the Senate Finance committee today. Perhaps, we all should petition this old S.O.B. about not going on fu*cking vacation for a month until he gets his job done!

Senator,

I've watched as you and the Senate Finance committee fiddled and danced on healthcare reform and I am outraged by your foot dragging.

The American people need healthcare reform and we need it now. We voted overwhelmingly for change last November and you are not honoring our mandate. Each day that passes another 14,000 Americans lose their health insurance. While those of us who do have insurance find it to be inadequate and overpriced.

We want reform and we want a public option. I see no reason why the wealthy in this country can't be asked to do something for their fellow citizens. After all, the top marginal tax rate used to be 90% and the capital gains rate used to be 50%. They are the only group who have gained ground over the past ten years. They are the richest people in the history of the world and you and the other "blue dog" Democrats refuse to ask them to pony up. It's blatantly unfair and you know it Senator.

Now, get off your hands and vote this out of committee. The American people deserve better than this.

Also, while you and your committee are obstructing real change the GOP is having a political field day.

None of you should go on vacation; just the idea that you plan on going home in August while this is left to wither on the vine is beyond the pale.
Senator, stay in the capitol and work night and day if you have to; but get this needed reform through your committee and do it with a public option (no co-op watered down b.s.); before you and your colleagues even consider going on your month long vacation!
