Obama's "police acted stupidly" comment was right on! |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 09:01 AM by glarius
Of all the comments I have heard since this incident occured....the one that makes the most sense is that of Pres. Obama. The policeman did act stupidly! No matter that the professor, an elderly man, was angry and yelling at him. Once he saw the professor's identification and it was established that he belonged in that house, the officer should have had the common sense to leave and that would have been the end of it. I believe the professor spent 4 hours in jail too. This certainly makes things worse.

The policeman could have walked away seeing the Professor's I.D.. The arrest was an of stupidity.

2. I believe the professor was held in jail for 4 hours too. |

This was in an account I read somewhere. That makes it even more wrong.

3. I don't begin to know all the facts in the case but the old saying that ..... |
|
..... you have to know which battles are worth fighting should have been applicable when dealing w/ the Professor. The cop should have walked away.

addressing this incident. I think it took alot of courage on his part, he has huge shoulders.

6. The fact that the President has sympathy for this is very good |
|
It is a giant step away from the thug authoritarianism, that people fall in line with. People in power often abuse it for their egos, any kind of power. Or no one speaks out about it, like with bullies in school.

7. No one is commenting on the officer's first remarks |
|
when he was asked about the incident. I don't remember the exact question put to him, but I noticed that he said, before he said anything else about the incident..."I didn't vote for him." This was thrown out there, for some reason and nobody has commented on it. I can't help but wonder why the officer felt he had to say that.

10. I was referring to the officer being asked about Obama's remarks. |
|
I guess I didn't make that clear in my above comments. To me it just seems strange that he would immediately say about Obama..."I didn't vote for him."...Why did he feel it necessary to say this?

9. I saw Jon's show last night and he was great as he usually is. |

My point is that looking at the situation with dispassion and as open-mindedly as possible, I think the person who makes the most sense is Obama...I'm not talking about politcs.
