2. I understand your post..being lover of peaceful/church music |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 07:19 PM by KoKo
that goes beyond the religious dogma. BUT...you do understand posting something from Mormons immediately causes rumpus on DU and that it's "peaceful and churchlike" causes another rumpus from others.
However...it was a lovely watch and a nice start to the weekend...given our tumultuous times.

6. Art always saves you. Didn't you know that? |
|
It doesn't matter who sings it. It is beautiful and actually, the Mormons do a good job. So what?

13. Of course, and thank you! |

You are very kind to say this. I knew when I posted that the MOrmon thing would aggravate some people. The fact is that they do it very well. I don't agree with their politics but their devotion to music is wonderful.
Kind of like the religious art of the Renaissance, isn't it? You just love it but the church thing gives you a bad feeling?

They do good music... I'm not against church music.. I used to love hearing my Granny sit at her piano and sing. It's not the content, but the sound. Not a church goer either, and ...well, because it was so nice, I'll save my opinion on them for another thread.

3. BTW...I hit Recommend for your post and it came up locked as "Unrecommend..." |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 07:17 PM by KoKo
Who knows what that means. I guess it might mean that someone hit "UnRec" the same time I hit "Rec" so it cancelled out. So I give you a "Post Kick, for Worth a Watch" for those of us seeking weekend PEACE.

12. Thank you. It's one of my favorites - |
|
- I had the privilege of singing this same choral arrangement with my church choir several years ago for a funeral. The deceased was active in state politics and the funeral was attended by both our past governor, Mark Warner, as well as the current governor, Tim Kaine. Governor Kaine was sitting in such a location that his head was right in my line-of-sight over the directors shoulder as we sang and I had to really focus to watch the director and not look at the governor.
