Talk about making lemonade out of lemons! |
|
Obama is amazing! He has gotten these two guys involved in the "racial" incident in Boston to come to the White House for a beer. Who'd a thunk it??
Right-wing radio nuts were preparing their talking points for the next two weeks. No doubt those like Rush Limbaugh and a couple of others will do their best to keep the racial division going. But Obama has nipped it in the bud. Their pursuit of this subject will only highlight their own desire for division and their racist tendencies.
President Obama said this was a "teachable" moment. He is willing to use this incident as a catalyst to bring our nation together. Others, like Limbaugh, will continue to play to the divisions, I am sure.

how to behave.
Admitting that he screwed up, and then doing what he can to fix it.
Lemons and lemonade, indeed. It would behoove a whole lot of Americans to watch what our President does, how he corrects himself, and how he tries to move forward and make a good difference with the whole thing.
Making up your mind about what happened when you don't have all the information - just as the President admitted - isn't smart, it's good, and won't lead to any meaningful discussions with people who see things differently than you do.
He's a leader, that's for sure..............................

9. Too bad his screw up was only his opinion. Since when is that a crime? I'm |
|
glad he didn't apologize. It should be a learning moment.

10. His behavior was an admission |
|
of error - he doesn't need to apologize.
Actions speak so much louder than words.
Just like when he made that crack about Nancy Reagan (the astrology incident), and how quickly he got on the phone and called her to apologize?
This man takes responsibility for what he says and does, and that is an excellent lesson for all Americans, young and old...

is, I think, the biggest difference between our side and their side.
And our President is leading the charge.
Nice to feel pride in our President, for a change, isn't it?

13. Wow, aren't you something. I thought he was galvanizing in his behavior, |
|
i.e., he wasn't kidding, and what he thought, as the president and an individual, goes. He stated his opinion. I liked it, and liked that he hasn't apologized.

14. Yeah, I'm something, just as you are - |
|
what's wrong with my seeing the situation differently from you?
You know, it's perfectly acceptable to have an opinion and not feel the need to defend it when it's not been attacked. You are fine with how you see the situation. No need to get twisted because you are different. Be secure in your beliefs.
I liked what he did, too. I interpret it as I see it..
That's "something"?
Right...............

Would be nice for this to start a dialogue, then maybe we can get straight back to health care.

Although his impromptu address today was not about health care, after watching him I became convinced that we may actually get a descent health care reform bill this year. When under the gun Obama always seems to come through.

I completely agree and this is exactly the kind of leadership we've been lacking in this country for 10 years since the Repulicans went all penis happy.
Kudos to Obama and a hearty K&R to this thread.
