"My Daddy the Jailbird" Elizabeth Gates interviews her dad, Henry Louis Gates for Daily Beast...
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 08:57 PM by zonkers
Daddy, how did it feel to read in the police report that although you had been cooperative with Sgt. Crowley, while he was standing uninvited in your home, your behavior had been reduced to “loud and tumultuous” after asking to see to his badge? Were you surprised at the inaccuracy of the police report?

Well, the police report was an act of pure fiction. One designed to protect him, Sgt. Crowley, from unethical behavior. I was astonished at the audacity of the lies in the police report, and almost the whole thing from start to finish was just pure fabrication. So yes, I felt violated all over again.

1. And the policeman
can't say a word.

Exploiting this isn't a good idea....................

4. The "policeman" had been whining all over the
media all morning long.

Good for Gates speaking out on what he thought was injustice by the officer.

11. Yep. Both links are inside that story.
Gates was "acting irrational" and as for Obama he "didn't vote for him."

13.  I didn't click on your link but I remembered seeing the radio discussed here
here. When I found the link, I saw that you'd posted the above and I figured I'd piggy back. Sorry if there's any redundancy.

16. Thanks again for that -
I listened and watched.

There are a lot of jurisdictions - here, in Alexandria, VA, as blue a place as can be - where officers are routinely not allowed to speak to the media whenever they're involved in any kind of dispute with the public.

That always struck me as manifestly unfair.

I'm glad Cambridge either has a stronger union or a better sense of fairness.

Thanks again..............

9. I hope it doesn't die down.
Arresting a homeowner for what? NOTHING.

That is a serious problem and needs to be addressed. I hope the professor sue the pants off the police department.
