I voted on this poll before thinking much about it. The poll isn't truly anonymous, because the mods and admins can see our votes, and one of the options is to admit you're violating federal (immigration) law. Maybe not such a good idea?

7. I can. Even the Social Security wonkette I showed it to was |
|
pretty amazed that I had my original one from 1945. The county seal is on a separate square of paper, stapled to the certificate and has a date coinciding with the week I was born.
She questioned that a moment, but the staple is all rusty.
I also have the reissue I obtained a few years ago to avoid sending the old one to the passport office and risking loss or damage.

8. The original, if it exists at all, would be held by the official record keeper |
|
In my case, what I have is a certified copy of the record of birth, and gives the book, page and line of the County birth register which is the original record. All named on it, my parents, the doctor that reported the birth, the registrar who recorded the birth, and the distric court clerk who issued the certified copy, have long since died.
Thus, the piece of paper is pretty useless, since there are no witnesses available to testify as to its genuineness. In fact, I doublt that it would be admissible in court.
