Pedobear is a Japanese cartoon character (from a commercial) that has been repurposed to satirize social hysteria about internet predators, child porn, etc., (where the hysteria tends to be out of all proportion to the actual incidence of the problem).

That's a hit with the great grandkids, as you can imagine.

You have to be from New England to appreciate some of the Family Guy nuance. It's a regional thing.

Of course, I like most of the storytelling cartoons--American Dad, Futurama (which I hope comes back), even the very Texan King of the Hill and the sometimes over-the-line South Park. I think they're more interesting viewing than most of the stupid Cable Screaming Head Opinion Shows, which I've pretty much given up on (and am happier for).

I do get it - some of the more wretched-hive parts of the net are weirdly fascinating to me - but I actively avoid participating in it to say the least. One of my friends got badly burned by that crowd a couple of years ago and I'm just gonna stay miffed at them for awhile yet.
