WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. -- The state is investigating a church day care center after four toddlers walked out of the building.
Police say the 2-year olds walked out of the Walnut Grove Christian School and down an access road.
They ended up 200 yards away in the middle of busy street.
Fortunately, two truckers saw the youngsters and ran into the street to save them.
"I was just in shock and disbelief. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was like a surreal moment, like I was dreaming. I was flabbergasted to say the least," said Marvin Cammon, one of the truckers.Police say 4 workers were watching the group of 23 children, but no one realized the toddlers were missing until the truck drivers returned them, about ten minutes later.
Pastor William Galus says he immediately called state inspectors and notified all parents with children in the daycare program.
"There have been some disciplinary action taken against the workers who were responsible," Galus said.
"There was a door open because it was a hot day, and I guess one of the day care worker's attention was diverted for a couple of minutes," said Galus.
