Poll question: Would anyone be up for starting something like a "Great Books Club"

section here on DU?

I/we could petition the admins for such a group if there were enough interest. I, for one, would enjoy revisiting many of the classics and will further enjoy exploring the great books I haven't read yet!

What do you all think?

1. How would this group be different than
the book groups already at DU?

4. Well, to be honest......I haven't paid too much attention to what the
already existing book groups on DU 'do'/focus on....I would guess those groups might focus on new 'worthy' material. I was just proposing a group that would only focus on the time-proven classics.

(although I bet I can guess your answer.....It doesn't take me long to "catch on" D'oh......although I'm not AT ALL surprised by your response.)

6. Are you referring to the Harvard Classics collection?
the 5 foot shelf? There is a new memoir out recounting a man's experience in re-reading the Great Books (from the "5 foot shelf")-- are you referring to this? I would be interested in reading along, so long as we were all reading the same book at a time. How long are you thinking of giving for each tome?
