Obama Finds Photos Hidden Behind A Bush
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/jul/26/climate-change-obama-administration

Graphic images that reveal the devastating impact of global warming in the Arctic have been released by the US military. The photographs, taken by spy satellites over the past decade, confirm that in recent years vast areas in high latitudes have lost their ice cover in summer months.

The pictures, kept secret by Washington during the presidency of George W Bush, were declassified by the White House last week. President Barack Obama is currently trying to galvanise Congress and the American public to take action to halt catastrophic climate change caused by rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

One particularly striking set of images - selected from the 1,000 photographs released - includes views of the Alaskan port of Barrow. One, taken in July 2006, shows sea ice still nestling close to the shore. A second image shows that by the following July the coastal waters were entirely ice-free.

The photographs demonstrate starkly how global warming is changing the Arctic. More than a million square kilometres of sea ice - a record loss - were missing in the summer of 2007 compared with the previous year.

16. Ouch
I am not defending her daughter, but a sexually active teenager does not necessarily mean she is a slut.

20. you're right. And as a former male teenager, I was HOPING that girls her age were sexually active.
as an adult, I know and have seen the impacts of unplanned teen pregnancy. Liek everyone else I hope to educate teenagers to make good decisions. Bristol Palin is an average girl.

her mom however, is batshit crazy like a looon.

12. BushCo had a simple science policy...
... if the scientific facts don't fit the political agenda, hide them or make up some "facts" that do.

15. I believe the * Admin was aware of this and dealt w it w an asset grab. Remember Katrina?
He abandoned those American citizens because they didn't matter to him. Him and his cronies were too busy securing as much as they could loot before the s#@! hits the fan. Over population? no problem to them-let the horrific natural disasters aid in that. His priority was securing land over the largest aquifer in South America.

19. Water levels have increased noticeably as well. Look at the area south-west of the airport
The small ponds / lakes are much larger, more marshy areas as well.

21. with all due respect...
...one year changes in sea ice cover don't really mean much. Ten or twenty year averages mean much more. Fifty year averages even more. If the sea ice is close to Barrow next summer-- and it might very well be-- does that "prove" that Inhofe was right all along?

No. But it doesn't for the same reason that a single year's variation in ice cover is pretty meaningless.
