Can there be a greater irony than George Will opining that President Obama is "overexposed"? |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-26-09 10:02 AM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
On Stephanopoulis Round Table portion of his show just now. He further stated that great showman Ronald Reagan (let us bow our heads in silent contemplation) knew that you had to leave the audience wanting more. He said someday soon the "novelty" of Obama would wear off and people would reach for their remotes to change the channel when they saw him! The irony was so thick, I think I need chelation therapy.
Ariana Huffington said something very interesting about Saul Alinsky's theory of political activism resulted in the 5th stage "reconciliation" and she said she thought Obama was trying to move too quickly to reconciliation before some of the earlier stages had been fully moved through. I don't know enough about Alinsky (except that he is a name that people employ when they want to try to brush Hillary or Obama as "radicals") but I found her comment interesting. I do know that I often wonder why so much energy is invested in attempting bi-partisan ship with another side that clearly has no interest in being bi-partisan.

1. I think that they're doing this in order |
|
to demonstrate to the electorate that the other side has no interest in bipartisanship; that this will crystallize prior to the 2010 elections and the Republicans are going to lose AGAIN, if this strategery(sic) works. The Dems will be able to recite a litany of projects/legislation which the RWers railed against and the Repubs will once again, be painted into their corner. they made a Faustian deal with theextremists and Mephistopheles has come calling.
You and I know this is true...convincing the masses is another story...

it should have been obvious from the very first vote that republicans had no intentions whatsoever of bipartisanship. it's not in their dna.

Or George Will...
By the way, Will is outnumbered on This Week today and he's getting extra snippy.

9. I was kinda hoping Donna Brazille was gonna get up and beat the snot outta George Will. |
|
Just once I wanted to see it happen. I actually made this comment to my husband while that segment was going and he agreed with me.
Will really was pretty snarky this morning.

5. They only say this about Democratic presidents. It goes back to the Roosevelts... |
|
who, actually, were hugely more reported than Herbert Hoover and used all mediums to get the message out. In addition, the use of and ownership of radio was greatly expanding. So, it really was hard to avoid the Roosevelts. ER received more letters in her first year in theWhite House than Herbert Hoover received in four years as president. Really.
GWB was a stale re-run from Day One. Emphasis on 'stale'. Same images recycled every six months. Laura hiding in the White House. Is she smoking?
But the Obama administration and family has so many more compelling stories to tell and images to convey. Tuskegee Airmen. First dog. MO and Liz at the Buck House, the swingset, Biden, Hillary, healthcare reform...
The R's are insanely jealous.

6. I posted this yesterday about a similar comment that some other shill made about Obama |
|
This must be the new *meme*. To the Repukes and corporate media whores, Obama is always too........ Too bad for them most people simply.don't.care about a POTUS who is, in nearly every way, far superior than most of our last few Presidents. More signs that they are grasping at straws hopelessly trying to bring him down - and seeming to FAIL!

14. Ah yes, George Will and Ronald Reagan |
|
Will secretly coached Reagan before his presidential debate with Jimmy Carter, had access to a briefing book stolen from the Carter campaign, and then had the gall to go on national TV after the debate to say what a terrific job Reagan had done against Carter. If you're looking for George Will's integrity, professional or otherwise, you might as well be looking for the Loch Ness monster; neither exist.
