Can you help me find a couple popular threads from a couple days ago?

I need them for reference, but I can't do a decent search since I became too poor to donate to DU last year. I don't remember the OP subjects accurately enough to find them in the google search. I should have had the sense to bookmarked them, but I didn't. They both made it high on the greatest page, so I'm sure some of you guys know where they are.

One is the laundry list of Obama accomplishments so far.

The other is the discussion of things the federal government has done a good job providing.

I know full well this is the lamest thing I've ever posted, maybe that anybody's ever posted. But still, can anybody lend a poor fat bastard a hand?

3. Hi there. For one thing, the search engine

Provided for use to those who "donate" doesn't work very well. So don't bother feeling bad you cannot use it.

So here is the thing to do:

Go to regular old Google

In the search box, put in "democraticunderground.com"

Then next to that term, put in the plus sign (+) and whatever relevant words you can remember from the thread that you want. If you remember who created the thread, or who was commenting on that thread, put in their userid. Also offer "google" some kind of date

So if you want a Global climate change thread started by "snarky"

You'll put in "democraticunderground.com" + "Global climate change" + snarky + July 2009

7. I used to have pretty good luck with the DU advanced search.

Technically, you should put "site:democraticunderground.com" in the search box, but I've got a couple issues with google in that I remember very little of the thread titles, and what I do remember is things like "federal government" and "obama" (which are not exactly uncommon on DU) and also that the threads might be too recent to have been indexed by google yet. Plus google's not going to return the results to me in a most recent first way, which would simplify things for me quite a bit.

But I may be able to find the thread I'm looking for on google by searching for my own username, because I did comment on it, so thank you for that excellent idea.

9. That's a good reason for commenting on any

Post you really like.

I am always putting a "thank you for posting" or "Marking for later" or other unnecessary comment in terms of the readers.

But in terms of me finding the topic on Obama, where some DU'er mentions he was visiting my old grammar school six weeks ago, it helps a lot.

An anonymous but very generous DUer bought me a donor star, and I was able to find the thread w/ the DU advanced search. Thank you to whoever bought me the star. It was totally unnecessary but greatly appreciated.
