7. Cronkite represents a bygone era in which news was not regarded as a profit center.
It was regarded as either pure public service or a loss leader for other broadcast fare.

9. A serious decision was made (80s) that News is Entertainment.
Not a big issue was made of it, and I am sure serious minded
journalists were not going to expound on it.

Roger Ailles, set up Fox News bases on this premise.
