1. Here's the write-up from the Fairbanks Daily News Miner

It doesn't give an exact time, but our picnic here in Anchorage yesterday was from 12:00 to 3:00 and I would imagine the same would be true of Fairbanks. She'll probably hand the power over toward the end, I would guess.

2. I'm sure I heard CNN say that they'll be carrying her
farewell speech at 7.00pm tonight. I was rather surprised.

3. If that's Eastern Time, that's 3:00 p.m. here.

That makes sense. If her speech is anything like the one in Anchorage, it'll only last a couple of minutes. She babbled on for a while in Wasilla -- Mudflats has a transcript -- but msybe she's saving herself up for Fairbanks. Must be, if CNN is running it.

Here's my favorite photo from yesterday. I'm told by reliable sources that the guy in shades is her "security" -- he was also at the Wasilla picnic -- but we're not sure who the blonde is.

8. Right now -
Discovery Channel is carrying the entire "Cronkite Remembers" series.

I bowed out of brunch and everything else just to stay home to watch it. It's eight hours of Cronkite talking about his career, and it's brilliant.

They're showing it again, after this series ends, and it goes until 3 a.m. tomorrow.

Screw CNN and Palin. This Cronkite series is gorgeous..............................

7. Such as I -
I'm so glad you went. What was it like there - pro-Palin?

Relieved?

I'm so curious.

And how was the wedding?

9. It was mostly pro-Palin,
Edited on Sun Jul-26-09 04:33 PM by Blue_In_AK
but there were several infiltrators -- I saw Shannyn, Laz (of OMFGAK) and Celtic Diva -- and lots of "just folks" who came for the free food. I've got a lot of pictures, so I'll probably end up putting them at my website once I get them sorted out.

I am relieved that she will soon be gone, but not real thrilled with the new guv as he's as conservative as she is and is keeping her people on, at least for the time being. At least he seems more honest than she is and most likely doesn't have national ambitions unless he chooses to run for Congress again sometime in the future. He took on Don Young last year in the Republican primary but was defeated despite Don's own questionable ethics.

And the wedding was beautiful. I may have mentioned that the bride has been a close friend, since second grade or so, of my youngest daughter, so she's like one of my own. We all had a great time.

where it's reported that Sarah will be handing over the reins at 2:00 p.m. Alaska time, which is in about 20 minutes.
