How to pay for public option |
|
This assumes the continued existence of for profit insurance:
Any for profit Medical Insurance Company should be taxed on their profits at 75%.
If they want to go non profit they can avoid the tax.

1. What will most likely happen |
|
is that government will force doctors and hospitals to take whatever they pay for Medicare and Medicaid patients when they treat a public option patient. The medical industry will just third-party that over to private health insurers and people with no coverage.
It'll work out the same as your plan.

3. Under the House bill ... |
|
No doctor and no Hospital will be required to take a public option insurance patient.
What good, exactly, is that going to do us? The uninsured will merely be forced to buy insurance that they still might not be able to use.
They are not guaranteed health care; all they're guaranteed is a big new tax (between 1.5% and 11.5% of gross income).
