There's a bipartisan majority in Congress on healthcare, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) declared Monday, and it's against the reform legislation that's currently proposed.
"There's a bipartisan majority in Congress against this bill," Cantor said in an interview on the Dennis Miller Radio Show.
The second-ranking House Republican pounced on internecine fighting among centrist and liberal Democrats over the healthcare reform bills before the House and Senate, claiming the centrists as being allied with the GOP.
"It's been quite a ride over the last several weeks to sort of look into the details of what this 'Obamacare' bill is all about," Cantor said of the fight over reform legislation in recent weeks, using the derisive "Obamacare" word for President Obama's proposed health reforms.
Cantor stopped short of saying that the now-expected August recess delay before the House and Senate take up preliminary bills would "kill" reform, but argued that the recess would air out details of the bill such that major changes would need to be made to the bills.
