2. I told a guy last week that he might as well open his head and pour his brains out
This was after he said three times that he only watches FAUX news.

It was one of those conversations where you just think how stupid.

3. I've had DirecTV from its inception
Their basic channels are not Ala Carte. They don't have tiered service like Comcast.

I wonder how they did this?

5. Maybe Fox is subsidizing the cable service, in exchange
for only having their news channel on. I dunno...

9. It's more likely Comcast
which has Pox News as the only news channel. I found the same thing when I was in the hospital. In addition, all the channels were Comcast channels and it was like somebody moved my food dish.

Good thing I was too out of it for the first three days to care.

They did have TCM, though, and that was what I kept on.

11. We have Comcast. Even their basic service offers CNN.
Perhaps you're mistaken.

14. Thank goodness for TCM! The other 150+ channels, except for a shows at certain times of the day,
are SHIT! TCM is always a welcome relief.

12. Rupert Murdoch owns Direct TV
Rupert Murdoch has ruined my life

I am sure he did not intend to ruin my life, but Rupert Murdoch has done just that. He has removed the major source of joy and happiness in my life. How did he do it? Well unfortunately he purchased Direct TV in 2003. Direct TV is my satellite television provider.

Satellite television is fantastic. The picture quality is great. Beyond that, there *WAS* a great, fabulous relationship between Tivo and Direct TV. Tivo automatically finds and digitally records your favorite tv shows, films, etc. Tivo finds and records shows by title, actor, director, genre, or keyword.

While that might not sound like much, try to imagine coming home after an extremely grueling day, to find that the Tivo has recorded a movie that you never heard of, that you never knew existed, and that, had you known about it, you would have wanted to watch.

For example, the Tivo heuristically discovers that film noir is your favorite type of film. Now, you can forget about your dreadful day and become totally and completely absorbed in watching this wonderful film noir film that the Tivo found and recorded for you. I loved this. It was the second source of joy and happiness in my life (my husband is the first). I spent many lovely and pleasurable hours watching new films, introduced to me by the Tivo, that gave me such happiness.

Rupert Murdoch took that away from me.

Rupert Murdoch's Digital Death Star
By Jeffrey Chester, AlterNet. Posted May 20, 2003.
Murdoch's plans to buy DirecTV will open the door to a not-so-distant future when our television set will become an outpost of the Murdoch empire.

16. I canceled my Direc TV the day Murdoch bought them.
But, after dealing with Dish Network's "Award Winning" customer service twice, I'll gladly give him my money again, just to avoid dealing with Dish again.

I have never in my life wanted to reach through the phone and strangle someone until I dealt with Dish. And, I still miss Amy Goodman with my morning coffee.

15. I KNOW!!!
When I was in the ER last November for chest pains (sinus tachycardia most likely due to a panic attack), they turned the TV on for me and it was tuned to Faux News. Just about that time, my husband arrived. When he came into my room, my heart rate was around 148. He looked at me, looked at the monitor, then looked up at the TV screen hanging in the corner of the room. Without saying a word, he reached over and turned the damn thing off. (I wasn't really watching it, but the senseless chatter was aggravating even as background noise.)

Soon after his arrival, my heart rate slowed to the 120s. Mostly because he has a calming influence on me. But Faux News wasn't helping very much either.

19. Is that the only porn channel available?
Well, political porn; but I'm betting that patients would want other porn channels available.

Better yet, complain to the hospital that you did not appreciate having a porn channel available -- then explain to them why Faux News is exactly that.

Complaints against lack of choice of channels, and especially of perpetrating the showing of Faux News, do work with many businesses.
