In 1963 the CIA turned a plot to kill Castro into a plot to kill Kennedy.
And they got away with it.

In 2001 the U.S. military turned a military exercise into a military diversion. And they got away with it.

And now Richard Cheney is literally getting away with murder. And nobody gives a shit.

1. In 1972, a crack commando unit...
"... was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team."

9. I'd bet my life you believed there were WMD in Iraq.
Do you know how many people would have to be involved in a conspiracy taking the United States to war under false pretenses? Ridiculous.

That's what scares the hell out of you to the point where you're always compelled to post such nasty things.

You've been told what to believe all of your life, and when you run across people who think for themselves, it enrages you.

This is not circumstantial. You have been programmed to attack intelligent people.

30. Yes, global warming.
Somebody posted about people being skeptical about global warming claims. I said I was skeptical. That drove your crazy and continues to do so because you have been programmed to attack people who think for themselves.

Thank you for providing an absolutely perfect example which proves what I'm saying to extraordinary exactitude. Well done.

25. I ad: It's not what we believed that matters. It is what Bush knew and
did not know. Read the article in Vanity Fair April 2004. And read all of it. You will be surprised at what was going on. Bush is a crook. No doubt about it. He wasted the lives of our soldiers and our national treasure running up a huge debt that is bankrupting us -- and for lies, all for lies. He is a despicable person.

He claims to be a God-fearing man. We all make mistakes, but he did not make a mistake. I would not want to have to face the judgment that his God will serve upon him.

24. According to a Vanity Fair article
that was published, I believe in April 2004, the United Nations team that was investigating the Iraq situation had ALREADY REPORTED that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction BEFORE BUSH SENT HIS TROOPS IN. ANYONE WHO ACTUALLY BELIEVES THAT BUSH DID NOT KNOWINGLY LIE ABOUT THE WMDS AT THE TIME OUR TROOPS WERE SENT INTO IRAQ SHOULD READ THE VANITY FAIR ARTICLE ON THIS SUBJECT IN I BELIEVE APRIL 2004. (It has been a long time, but I am pretty sure of the date of that article.)

The government still hasn't come clean to this day about chemtrails. I live right under the approach path of a major airport and everytime I leave my goddam windows open I get an uncontrollable urge to switch the channel to Fox news and call up close relatives for a date. Don't even get me started. I'm so pissed off right now I can't stand it. A plane just flew over and now my dog is trying to hump the neighbor's Persian cat. Planes flying into buildings. Dogs and cats together. This shit just ain't right.

18. Do you know how much effort went into covering up the anti-Castro operation?
Edited on Mon Jul-27-09 03:48 PM by AntiFascist
Once ultra-right operatives realized they could get away with it (and I am talking about Oswald) then Nixon proceeded back toward the presidency laying the groundwork for Reagan, Bush and then Iran-Contra. The rest is history.

On edit, while this is still in GD-

Felix Rodriguez is a common thread:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%A9lix_Rodr%C3%ADguez_(Central_Intelligence_Agency)

"Felix Rodrigues <sic> – Bush did know him from CIA days. FR <Rodriguez> is ex-CIA. In El Salv<ador> he goes around to bars saying he is buddy of Bush. A y<ea>r ago Pdx <Poindexter> & Ollie <North> told VP staff stop protecting FR as a friend – we want to get rid of him from his involvnt <sic> w<ith> private ops. Nothing was done so he still is there shooting his mouth off."<9>

21. I think an important detail often overlooked in regards to the Bay of Pigs
Edited on Mon Jul-27-09 04:09 PM by BuyingThyme
is that the people who killed Kennedy were actually against it.

The Bay of Pigs plan under Eisenhower and Nixon was supposed to install a rightist government, but Kennedy would have installed a democratic government.

When the plot was implemented, there were three groups working: 1. People who wanted to install a dictatorship. 2. People who wanted to install a democracy. 3. People who had dropped out of the operation entirely.

The people who dropped out are the ones with the answers.

The CIA couldn't get Castro, but with the help of the anti-Castro Cuban refugees they were able to extract revenge on Kennedy for withholding air support during the bay of pigs. They got that sombitch commie-lover but good, then they blamed on Castro and got away with it.

I believe the people who killed Kennedy lost interest in the Bay of Pigs the day Kennedy was elected over Nixon.

This book, co-written by Sam Giancana's daughter, discusses the relationship between Giancana and JFK.

33. This book provides a much broader context...

with the theory that the mafia had infiltrated the CIA. This makes sense in light of drug-running operations:

http://www.maryferrell.org/wiki/index.php/Legacy_of_Secrecy

...JFK's murder also launched a flurry of covert actions by officials like Robert F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Helms to hide the fact that the United States was on the brink of invading Cuba as part of a JFK-authorized coup only ten days away. The plan's exposure could have cost the life of JFK's coup leader, Cuban Army Commander Juan Almeida, and led to a nuclear confrontation with the Soviets, just a year after the Cuban Missile Crisis. But the cover-ups by these top officials also had the tragic effect of preventing a full investigation of JFK's assassination, spawning a legacy of secrecy that would impact Presidents, Congress, and U.S. foreign policy for the next forty-five years.

Legacy of Secrecy details the secret attempts of Robert F. Kennedy and his aides to expose his brother's killers, while protecting Commander Almeida. It shows how RFK continued his war against the Mafia by focusing increased attention on the Mafia bosses behind JFK's assassination, until his own murder. RFK's associates continued his quest, almost exposing the truth several times. But like a deadly, high-stakes chess game - at the height of the Cold War - they were blocked each time by three Mafia chiefs and a handful of CIA operatives. Legacy details each step taken by mob bosses Carlos Marcello, Santo Trafficante, and Johnny Roselli to hide their involvement in JFK's murder, and the tragic results that followed. The long shadow of secrecy surrounding both JFK's murder and the coup plan set the stage for the murder of Martin Luther King, ultimately driving two Presidents from office, and bringing about the murders of five Congressional witnesses in the mid-1970s."
