In your view, are there left fringe groups that mirror right fringe groups
Minutemen

Teabaggers

Megadittos

KKK

Various militia

etc.

Are there equally fringe groups on the left? They don't have to directly correlate.

1. Depends on which parts of the groups you use to correlate with.
and what is fringe.

I would guess you have to find a commonality with the groups you mentioned. Then see if there are left groups that have those same characteristics.

4. I don't think you'll find direct correlation
But I should think PETA and those environmentalists that do ecoterrorism (can't recall their name) woud qualify.

2. None I'm aware of that are actually dangerous.
A few anarchist vandals, but they don't show any interest in killing people. And there are some 9/11 conspiracy theorists and chemtrail worriers and some leftover Naderites that some might consider to be a bit "out there." But our lunatic fringe isn't nearly as crazy as their lunatic fringe.

7. Really? The Sea Shepherd is a "fringe group."
I know they take some risks to protect whales but I don't see them this way.

I saw an episode of their show a couple of weeks ago and they were willing to suspend their protest operations in order to help the Japanese fishing fleet search for a man overboard.

Hence, while there tactics might offend some, I don't think you could equate them with the groups listed in the OP.

8. They're bending and sometimes breaking laws to engage in vigilantism.
Whether we agree with them or not, I think that puts them into the region.

10. 9/11 Truthers are a mixed bunch.
I don't think they're left wing as a whole.

13. Perhaps, but they de facto rest on our side of the fence.
Some of the birthers may be former PUMAs, but I happily consign the whole mess onto the right.

he is probably the most famous Truther (apart from the Loose Change guy, whose name I forget) and he's a RW Libertarian.

9. I am not aware of many right now - there were some violent left groups
about 35 years ago, but no longer AFAIK.

11. If there are I doubt we would identify them as fringe even though others might.
AKA nobody here but us stable law abiding patriots.

12. Try telling that to the posters in the 9/11 forum.
They are definitely considered to be "fringe".

16. I do get somewhat annoyed by some of the pseudo-anarchists I have met
you know the ones...trust fund kids pretending to be Trotskyites and Unite the Workers. but I just consider them young, not fringe. also, the Free Mumia crowds at the anti war marches sort of grate my last nerve.

18. Yes.
Though not nearly as organized as the reich wingers you list. Many of the fringe on the left don't identify with any group. None of them measure up. ;-)
