Forget It. The Media Is Not Going to Report on the Police Report Lies
They are just not going to admit the significance of the lies in that report.

1. They learned the last time they slandered a guy and paid millions
they, unlike the internet, have to actually have to have proof on record before they can allege a person is a liar and committed a crime.

7. Yeah, that is not sworn statement.

you can say what you want because you have nothing to loose. Any media outlet has to have proof beyond a statement before they destroy a persons career. Oh they get sued, ala Richard Jewel.

If he lied he should loose his job.

9. Not really, she can state her opinion through council
however real media can not allege a crime without proof. That is a protection we all get. Not about belief, about due process. Both parties get it.

2. And since they won't
Obama will have been "put in his place."

That part bugs me. That was probably the most genuine moment Obama has had onscreen, and he was fully justified in what he said, and it felt GOOD to see him genuinely outraged. And somehow he was forced to take it back in favor of a cop who lied on his police report and to all of us.

Stinks. REALLY stinks.

4. This Cop is scum and a Liar
Like Obama should apologize to these Dirty Harry types.

Thugs all of them.

I remember these mother fuckers busting heads at the anti-War demos in the early 70s

Their offspring LIKE this POS is typical of the US vs THEM ----COP mentality

5. He never took it back as far as I'm concerned.
To do so would have given tacit approval to police all over the country to act stupid in people's houses.

He didn't take it back. At best he said, it was stupid, I'm shocked that some people think stupid is too harsh a word, so perhaps I should have modulated the word a bit. LOL

That's not taking it back. That's sticking it in with a grin.

14. The NYT has touched on it

Tape Raises Questions in Gates Case

Ms. Whalen, who was calling on her cellphone from in front of Professor Gates’s house, stayed at the scene until the police arrived. A report filed by the arresting officer, Sgt. James M. Crowley, said she told him she had seen “what appeared to be two black males with backpacks” on the porch of the home.

Police officials have stood by the report in interviews, but on Monday, Ms. Whalen’s lawyer said she had never mentioned race to Sergeant Crowley.

“She didn’t speak to Sergeant Crowley at the scene except to say, ‘I’m the one who called,’ ” said the lawyer, Wendy J. Murphy. “And he said, ‘Wait right there,’ and walked into the house. She never used the word black and never said the word backpacks to anyone.”

Cambridge police officials did not return a call seeking comment on the inconsistency.
