My letter to Senator Cantwell
Dear Senator Cantwell,
I heard on the news today that the Senate Finance Committee on which you serve is presenting a healthcare reform bill which lacks employer mandates or a public option.

As the President has pointed out, both of these are required for meaningful reform.

I do not appreciate a mandate to purchase the products of a private company, without any useful and effective mechanism for cost control, nor any requirement for employers to participate in the cost.

It is difficult to avoid the conclusion that the finance committee's intent is to create a bill which gives low to middle income people a subsidy with the caveat that they must use it to purchase products from companies who use the profits to influence elected officials.

Regards,
Jeff Meeks

1. Prepare for a form letter...
I've got one of my own from MY attempt to give her my opinion on the matter.

2. I'll add it to my collection.
On issues like this, a staffer simply counts the letters and gives Cantwell a tally.

3. I don't even open the form letters from
our so called representation in congress mainly from Senators Burr, Dole and now Hagan..they just go in the pile for shredding to use as mulch in the garden. All that acid paper is good in our alkaline soil....

4. May I use it?
I'll even give you credit !

Cantwell lives up to her name. At least with Murray I get form e-mails.

Hope we have a strong primary challenger...

5. Phone
I get more satisfaction with a phone call. That way it's a back and forth discussion and you can better tell them how you really feel.
