What purpose does it serve other than to promote and glorify an unhealthy and dangerous habit?

Why does DU tolerate the use of a happy smiling SMOKER (obviously aimed at impressionable young minds),
and willingly contribute to fattening the bank accounts of the uncaring corporatist tobacco industry?

Do we really want that to welcome that sort of subliminal advertising and profiteering here?

...so because I have an issue that's important to me but not so important to you (or that we disagree on) I'm a right wing shill? It doesn't matter that I support universal health care, free public education up to and including 4 year college, a higher minimum wage, and many other tenants of the current "progressive" movement. I don't have to talk about these other subjects with most folks here because we are for the most part in agreement on them. One of the big areas, however, where there is a (fairly even now) split, is the 2nd Amendment. I promote those other ideals in places where they are needed. Here, my goal is to try and continue the turn away from groups like the Brady Campaign, so that we can get down to the business of addressing the real issues behind crime, like urban decay, poverty, poor education, gentrification, etc.

If that makes me a "right wing shill" then I guess I'm guilty as charged.
