1. WI has BadgerCare Plus for adults with no dependent children that has just started. |
|
I signed up for it as soon as they took applications and I have not heard back yet. Scroll down to see coverage. http://dhs.wisconsin.gov/BadgerCarePlus/core/pdf/p-00078.pdf

2. my sister lives in vermont. |

she's 55 -- no pre-existing conditions. health insurance costs her $372 a month. the care may be good, but it's expensive.

...cost is based on income. After I left Vermont, I had to pay $1200. for the same coverage that $372 buys in Vermont. One of the problems is the inequality in the U.S. Some pay nothing, with their employer paying all, to self- employed people paying upwards of $2000/month, to those that can't even get health insurance. One of the great things about Vermont, being a smaller state with a smaller population, is the access to local health clinics.

5. It's odd that article only mentions Jim Douglas. |
|
It seems to credit him, yet his views are pretty far right on health care.

6. I have been away from Vermont for about 4 years |
|
...I would not give much credit to Jim Douglas. Howard Dean did much to support Health care there.

8. I'm really starting to like you, Handmade!! |
|
I don't know much about Jim Douglas, but my brother-in-law lives in South Hero and I haven't heard any complaints from him lately.
I would love to live in VT, but it is EXPENSIVE.

9. I still maintain my residency in Vermont |
|
I travel throughout the U.S.(for work - in San Francisco area now - headed to South Dakota next) and to benefit from the Vermont system, I have to physically be there. My partner and I have a house in both Vermont and Michigan and I imagine if we can ever get off the road we will head to Vermont, specifically for the health care (and yes, land values have not gone down as dramatically in Vermont) (My three youngest are still in Vermont, 2 in Stowe and 1 finishing up at the University of Vermont)
