GOP Earns Worst-Ever Rating in Fox Poll

by Jonathan Singer, Tue Jul 28, 2009 at 07:35:20 AM EST

I'm shocked -- shocked -- that this finding doesn't make it into the Fox News write up of its own polling, but the latest survey commissioned by the conservative news outlet finds that the Republican Party is at an all-time low in terms of popularity.

Per the poll (.pdf), the GOP's favorability rating has slid noticeably from the spring, from 41 percent in early April to just 36 percent today. At the same time, the party's unfavorable rating increased from 50 percent to 53 percent. Both of the current numbers represent new lows for the Republican Party in Fox News polling.

At the same time, the Fox News survey finds that Americans view the Democratic Party significantly better, with 50 percent viewing it favorably and just 41 percent viewing it unfavorably. Barack Obama's favorable ratings are even better -- still close to a 2-to-1 positive-to-negative ratio -- with 62 percent viewing him favorably and 33 percent viewing him unfavorably.

So just who's lagging right now?

3. Money Talks...And Loudly
The GOOP may have fallen into minor league status and is as unpopular as I've ever seen them, but they still have money, think tanks and a noise machine directly into the ears of the corporate media.

I expect we're gonna get a real view of this underworld in the release of the CBS memos regarding the Rather investigation.

It's not absurd...it's the best "media" the corporate money can buy.

2. But But But...It's Obama Whose Failing...
At least if you read some here on DU...it's all gone to hell...he's no different than booosh.

The rushpublicans are in a big box right now...many are afraid to alienate their flying monkeys as they've relied on these losers for money and filling the church busses. They're the squeaks on their wheels that create the biggest noise. The more noise they make, the higher the remnants of this corrupt and inept party go to placate them. All that's left are the far right...anyone whose moderate (or has any sense of decency) has distanced themselves from this on-going train wreck.

Here's hoping the GOOP continues its mission of total irrelevancy...

and the president still capitulates to the blue dogs. i guess the campaigning for the 2010 elections have already started. oh silly me..they start running for the next election the moment they are elected.

10. I went to the Fox web site.
They didn't even mention it in the article. They also didn't mention Obama's formability rating. you would have to go to the actual poll.
