Single Payer! - No way.... Public Option! - No way... . Doodley Squat! - Way! |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-28-09 09:49 AM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
That seems to be our trajectory.
Now here is my cynical thought of the day. We are fighting a battle for an ever diminishing return. We might get a public option. But I doubt it. If we do, it will be exactly the kind of imposter public option Schumer envisioned from the get-go. This whole debate has just been taking items off the table and replacing them with inferior substitutes the entire time. At the end of the process, we'll be slobberingly grateful for any crumb tossed our way.

1. Phoebe, I do definitely feel your pain! |
|
It is becoming very difficult for me to say I support the "bill" when I have no earthly idea what is in the bill!

I just wonder how we are supposed to get a Democratic majority in congress that actually represents the people's interests instead of the interests of kleptocratic power.

5. Nope. Won't be grateful at all and will try to opt out... |

...right now I don't have health insurance - when I did, it didn't help all that much what with deductibles and co-pays.
Congress needs to hear loud and clear during their 'recess' that the public (the voters) are fed up with them sucking at the pig trough. We need reasonable health care and we need it now.
Or we'll end up with the GOP back in control.
Simple as that - as bad as it will be, how is having the dems do the GOP's work for them any better?
"Recess" - how appropriate that we use the same word for letting children play during the school day to refer to time that Congress gets to play....

6. Correction: we're SUPPOSED to be slobberingly grateful for any crumb tossed our way... |

Fuck this whole thing. Sorry. But they asked me to care, and now I can see it doesn't make a fucking difference.
Who gives a shit? I'll vote Democratic, just to keep the fucking Bible idiot fascists at bay, but not another of MY dimes go toward the country club.
I don't care any more. We're a fucking banana republic. We're being run by the "Economic Hitmen" Our country's been bought and sold and we have nothing but our festering sores to show for it, and look to our children and grandchildren to share the same fate.
It's every man for themselves and work till you die and end up broke.
The system is broken. Don't ask me to fight for a broken system.

They mean nothing. So what are they afraid of? They can pass whatever they want.

9. The Democrats started compromising way too soon and never had single payer at the table. |
|
So despite the Democrats claims - all stakeholders were never part of the decision-making.

10. I just wish that the congressional advocates of single payer... |
|
would get off their asses and MAKE the DAMN CASE instead of bitching about the pubbies and blue dogs. It's almost like they're glad to have a scapegoat they can point to, to excuse their failure. Failure isn't a given though, if they'd just FIGHT!

If not now ~ when? Most people were excited about "change" and it looks like we're going to see the same old crap in Washington. Dem's need to move forward and get the healthcare plan NOW, not a watered down unusable Rep mistake. The Dems have the POWER to do what is needed in the country NOW,,,, so get it done! Single payer healthcare is needed and wanted by Americans.
