Racism Is the Prime Cause for Debunked Obama Birth Certificate Conspiracy Theory
Racism Is the Prime Cause for Debunked Obama Birth Certificate Conspiracy Theory
By Liliana Segura, AlterNet. Posted July 28, 2009.

...............................

"On the one hand it's funny," says Wise. "On the other hand it's really frightening, because people when they're in that sort of meltdown mode don't make good decisions and do really crazy things." Take James W. Von Brunn, the white supremacist -- and "birther" himself -- who shot and killed a guard at the U.S. Holocaust Museum in June.

It would be pushing it to see the birthers phenomenon as a a sign that white hegemony is nearing its last throes. However, "one really positive thing about Obama's presidency in regards to race" says Wise, is that "its created this nuttiness on the part of a lot white folks who have always been thinking this stuff but they just haven't been as bold with it."

"At some point it will become increasingly difficult for those who like to deny racism as a problem to continue completely burying their heads."

"At some point, people will have to say, maybe black folks aren't the crazy ones. Maybe it's not the folks of color who have lost their minds. Maybe it's you."

1. I agree with this shit 100%. Birthers don't want a black man running their
country and they'll do any goddamned thing they can to stop it....

Even try to elect a guy who wasn't born on US soil. If there was anyone they should have been questioning it is McCain.

3. McCain did look into it, he too was tempted to play that card.

4. Yes and that is why the 'proof' they seek is impossible to provide
They are not going to believe anything that contradicts their delusional beliefs/wishes.

No matter what proof is shown, they will discredit it and continue to hang on to the delusional explanation for why Obama 'can't legally be president'. They know the real reason the feel that way, that a black man can't be president' just won't fly, legally or socially.

Their racism makes them look for excuses they can try to pawn off on others.

8. I finally saw some of the crazy woman shouting at Rep. Castle. She was yelling about a birth
certificate that said she was an American citizen and I'm going WTF?

5. Sure it's racism, but Republicans will try to make any Dem president illegitimate
Remember how they said Clinton "didn't really win" the '92 election?

They are whiners pure and simple. Call them out for what they are. The same type of people who thought Tim McVeigh was justified in what he did after the whole Koresh/Waco/FBI thing.

13. I simply do not understand bigotry.
I was just on the phone with my best gal pal. Saturday last, we had a party at her house. To say that the guest list of our friends was a totally mixed bag anyway you could cut it, is an understatement. We all are friends....PERIOD.

I just don't understand hatred based on bigotry.
