Punk nabbed in hit-and-run death of 'American Idol' wannabe Alexis Cohen
Former American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen was killed Saturday in a hit-and-run accident. The suspected driver is now in custody. A New Jersey man was arrested Sunday and charged with the death of former "American Idol" contestant Alexis Cohen during a hit-and-run accident at the Jersey Shore.

Daniel Bark, 23, of Toms River mowed down Cohen in his 2005 Mitsubishi Gallant and left the scene of the predawn Saturday accident, police said. He was charged with second-degree manslaughter, and faces 10 to 15 years in prison if convicted. About 4 a.m., two passersby discovered Cohen's battered body along a road in Seaside Heights, authorities said. Her car was found about 300 yards away.

Investigators said Cohen, 25, who is from Allentown, Pa., had been visiting the popular beach town. Bark was arrested in Monmouth County, but was being held by Ocean City cops. Bail was set at $35,000, authorities said. Cohen was reportedly studying veterinarian medicine at Montgomery County Community College.

Her 2007 YouTube interview became a sensation when she told the judges she liked "the fact that people look at me 12 heads" and told the judges she planned "to knock you off your feet."

1. He ran because he was drunk...
...that's usually the case. Sad, and she was so young.

2. I lived in PA when she was on American Idol
about ten miles from where she lived, and of course she was in the local news. Now I live about ten miles from where she was killed. Talk about unhappy irony.

3. This is so sad. Alexis was only 25 and had little but her dreams and a fighting spirit.
It's sad that her claim to fame was that she was the butt of jokes all over the net and on You Tube.

RIP Alexis.

8. He was fleeing from another accident and was pursued
by a cop on a bike when he hit her. They caught him for the first accident and only later connected the dots.

"Cohen was reportedly studying veterinarian medicine at Montgomery County Community College." umm - as one cannot study human medicine at a cc - so too with vet med. maybe a prevet major? or vet tech?

on topic though - very tragic, and prayers for her family.

12. You know, I've never watched American Idol, knew about it
when I used to watch Olbermann and he would report.

But isn't it enough that people have to swallow their ego when they are rejected, why does the camera have to linger to catch their reaction when they lose?

Our modern version of the Roman Gladiators, of the French Guillotine, of our own lynching..
