Just when you thought it couldn't get any crazier - the new nut case talking point is a secret plan to euthanize seniors. Representatives Gohmert and Fox were on the house floor making that claim today.

Sick fucks.

31. A woman even asked President Obama about it at the Town Hall meeting today
He responded by explaining that the part they are talking about will give counseling on end of life decisions such as living wills and hospice care, among other things, so people can make informed decisions.

The RW nuts have been made to believe that as people age, under this health care reform package, they will be required to get counseled on when they are costing the government more than they are worth, and when they should just die.

87. Virginia "Elder Murder" Foxx (Wingnut-NC) on the health care plan...
Anyway, today she came up with a brand new health care reform objection when she said that the Republican health care plan -- whatever that is! -- would "make sure we bring down the cost of health care for all Americans and that ensures affordable access for all Americans and is pro-life because it will not put seniors in a position of being put to death by their government."

26. if it were useless, then
why?

Why spend the $$ and go through the agony and bankrupt your family and put them through extended hours of grief just "waiting for you to die"? What's the point, really?

If the doc gave you a month to live, during which you'd receive very expensive and painful "treatment" and your family had to watch you suffer and lose their life savings in order to accomplish your living another few days, then why the hell would you do that to your family? Don't you love them and want the best for them? Or do you want to eek out a few more breaths and heartbeats "just because" . . .

Quality of life counts for a whole hell of a lot, imo.

The part of the bill that has your panties in a bunch refers to making it mandatory that Medicare pay for the health care service of that provides counseling to create a living will if the patient wants one. It is in every adults best interest to have a living will so that their wishes about the type of care they want to receive in the event that they become incapacitate and unable to communicate.

Does the government scare you? Do you think that they are coming to get you, Bitter_Clinger?

It sounds as though you want to continue to leave health care in the hands of huge corporations who can and do deny & ration health care which soon only the very wealthy will be able to afford while millions of Americans continue to go bankrupt attempting to pay their medical bills. Gotcha.

78. FYI
It is only in the US where clerks get between you and your doctor. Doctors, your doctor, is on the phone every day yelling and arguing with some clerk, sometimes an overseas clerk, to get a medically necessary procedure, prescription, treatment, or therapy approved.

Approved! Only in America do we even think of a medical diagnosis needing approval. What are we, in kindergarten?

In EVERY OTHER INDUSTRIALIZED NATION the only person allowed to make medical diagnosis and recommendation holds a license. Ask any Doctor in Canada if they have to call and get approved for ANYTHING they recommend and they will look at you as if you have lost your mind. There might be mild wait times but in reality the wait times are usually shorter than they are here. The cost is minimal.

Keep in mind that the US does NOT HAVE A MEDICAL SYSTEM. We have a patchwork of bad service and refused service. We have the highest rate of rationing in the world ("56 - 60 million denied - and growing daily" - it should be a McD's sign). We have the highest rate of bankruptcy in the world due to medical bills. We pay more than any other nation in the world by a factor of over 2 and we get 3rd world outcomes for it.

And let's not talk about how much this is costing main street America. Small companies are being priced out of business because of health care costs. Big companies are no longer competitive.

If this was happening due to the mob the FBI would be crawling up their asses with SWAT teams and warrants. If Venezuela was doing this we would bomb them back into the stone age, but because it is insurance companies they get a free ride. On our backs. On our lives. On our kids and on our parents.

It is robbery. I trust my bookie more than my insurance company. At least he pays off when he loses a bet. The insurance companies routinely don't.

Please, please, please, do not fall into the trap that is being woven. It is utter BS. There are no clerks in government denying you. There are millions of them working for the insurance companies. And their job is to say NO, NO, NO ... no go away and die.

We need single payer.

36. While I agree with you, that I would not chose desparation treatment to the very end
It MUST be up to the patient, their doctor and their family to make that kind of decision.

But that is one reason to make the counseling available so people can make informed choices. Many people just do not realize how agonizing the end can be and what the alternatives for care are. And many do not realize that without a living will, they will not be able to control what the choices are at the end. We've had two deaths in my family that have forced us to face that these choices should be made ahead of time. Prior to each of my last four surgeries, I updated my Living Will and Health Care Advocate forms and gave them to the doctors and surgery facilities.

I made sure of that since the choices I will make if faced with a terminal illness are vastly different than the ones my husband would make for me. He wants to prolong life as long as possible, I want to end my life with dignity and with as little pain as possible. He will not be in the position to make those choices for me. Since our choices differ so, I have made clear to him that he should be sure to make his selections ahead of time and have a different advocate for his end of life decisions.

Counseling is another name for preparation.

I have a friend who will not live more than year, thanks to cancer. She has begun her counseling, everything from legal concerns, such as wills, power of attorney to pain management to where she would want to spend her final days. She's 46 years old.

Do you honestly believe President Obama would advocate counseling the elderly to commit euthanasia?

though I am religious and I do own an assload of guns I do not let my vote be influenced by either gun or religious issues. I know full well that who I am voting for is a politician first and lacks the spine to ever cast a vote encroaching my rights on either.

Doubt my words? There are more than enough Democrats in both the House and Senate to pass healthcare. Why do they let the moderates and blue dogs hold things up? Because they lack the spine to pass it on their own. They want to share the blame if things go wrong.

Pass it already!

Cause "end of life counseling" is not included in HR3200.

Though what you have against preparing for death is beyond me. I'm only 48 and in good health but still kick myself from time to time for not making better preparations. I have more than enough life insurance to insure my family does fine without me (actually, I'm worth more money dead, but don't tell them that). But I really should assemble all the paperwork in secure folder. And I really should put together a will given that the default inheritance is roughly 100% different from what I want done.

A 2002 Gallup survey showed that 72% of Americans supported euthanasia.<3>

(Granted, it's Wiki, but it's a starting point.)

You can go as full-metal Schiavo as you want -- it will backfire like it did in 2005, as Republicans start pulling stupid and transparent stunts. (Which I actually encourage -- their base will shrink even more.)

My mother-in-law's crazy right wing neighbor has been circulating this BS to every living soul she knows.

28. One of my elderly friends got this in an email and immediately
forwarded it to all of us.

Yes, I want to reform health care so we can kill of all these old farts who keep stinking up the place (no, wait, I'll be old in ten years. What was I thinking?)

Then, we can outlaw hunting. It's an important part of our secret agenda for giving porcupines the vote.

Next, we mandate that everyone wear their underwear on the outside of their clothes so we can be sure they ARE wearing underwear.

Our secret plan is a cross between Wild In The Streets and Bananas.

We could mandate that everyone wear a heart plug, and it'd be Dune, too.

After all, Obama is a dictator - I know because I saw it written on the wall of the bathroom yesterday.

56. Counseling on matters would be good for people..
so many people that we come across in hospice don't know what their medicare benefits are, that we can pay for the medicine related to their hospice diagnosis and get their depends and ensure (a BIG selling point for those who can't afford their medicine or other needs), or what hospice can do for them. People need things we can supply for them if they qualify and they have no idea.

they hope there is enough negativity to drive Obama's numbers down, and are using ignorant republican fanatics on the right to do their dirty work.
