Tonight we’ll discuss the apparent demise of a public option in Obama’s Health Care Reform bill. The Senate Finance Committee reached a compromise that, according to the New York Times, “replaces the employer mandate with a free rider provision, establishes a cooperative in place of the public option, and partly funds reform by taxing ‘Cadillac’ health care benefits.”

Howard Dean appearing on the Rachael Maddow Show on MSNBC last night had this to say

You know, this is going to be a hell of an issue in 2010 cause honestly, what’s the point of having a 60 vote majority in the United States Senate, if you can’t produce…health care reform. You can get health insurance reform. This bill is going to cost us a lot of money and it isn’t going to do anything, if this so-called compromise is true. This compromise does nothing, except it will reform insurance.

What does it take, Truthseekers, to get meaningful health care reform in this country? Can we ever get past the greedy lobbyists, greedier insurance industry, and - greediest of all - Big Pharma - to finally guarantee every citizen what should be a basic right (and is in every other industrialized nation)? The right to be treated when we are sick, the right to preventative medicine to keep us healthy, and that these rights be guaranteed to everyone fairly regardless of age, financial status, or preexisting condition?

I must have pissed off the gods/goddesses...When I went out today to remove our pool equipment from the pool, then hooked up the manual vac and began using it - thunder. It poured down for 3 hrs. and I had to backwash the pool twice, gave up and set the filter to waste and even with an overflow valve, the pool was still too full.

It stopped raining and I had the XM set up and turned on outside so that I could start vacuuming again, as soon as I had the end of the hose in the intake, and the pump set so that I could vacuum, it started pouring down rain again. I'm soaked and my chore is as yet incomplete. (need soaking wet smiley) :hug:

The wind was blowing really hard, then the rain and I have white crepe myrtles in the front of the house and it looks like it's been snowing as the blossoms are on the ground. The 3 big ones are bending over and the smaller one around the mailbox looks really pitiful!

Hoping that all is well at Chez smokey and scratches to the fur babies. I'll be listening outside as I try to vac the pool again. I had to backwash it again just a few minutes ago, but the down pour has let up now...so off I go!:hi: :hug:
