I personally documented an excerpt of their conversation.

John Stewart- "So you-you don't believe-no public option. So even though that's good enough for the military, not good enough for the people of America"

Bill Kristol- "Well the military has a different health system than the rest of Americans"

Stewart- "It's a public system, no?"

Kristol- "Yeah they don't have an option. They are all in military health care."

Stewart- "Why don't we go to that then?"

Kristol- "I don't know. Is military health care really what you- well first of all it's expensive. I think they deserve it, the military. But you would have-"

Stewart- "But the American public do not..."

Kristol- "No, the American public do not deserve the quality health care soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve. They need all kinds of things that the rest of us don't need"

Stewart- "Well no they can have the level of care- but are you saying the American public shouldn't have access to the same quality health care that we give to our better citizens."

Kristol- "Yes- to our soldiers?- absolutely. American public-"

Stewart- "Really?"

Kristol- "One thing-if you become a soldier, you deserve-"

Stewart- "Should they have nicer houses?"

Kristol- "No they don't have nicer houses"

Stewart- "Should they get paid more?"

Kristol- "No, they get paid less-they get paid less. So one of the ways we make it up to the soldiers-since they are risking their lives- we give them first class health care. The rest of us can go out and buy insurance. As we have-"

Stewart- "So you just said-just very quickly,you just said that the public-I just want to get this on record."

Kristol- "I feel- I feel that you've trapped me somehow."

Stewart- "Bill Kristol just said that the government can run a first class health care system"

Bill Kristol- "Sure it can"

Stewart- "And that a government run health care system is better than the private health care system."

Kristol- "I,I- I don't think of it- I don't know if it's better"

Stewart- "No you just said that. You just said it was better"

Kristol- "I-I don't know if it's better"

Stewart- "No you said it. You said it. You said it was better. You said it's the best. It's a little more expensive, but it's better."

Stewart- "So what you are suggesting is that the government could run the best health care system for Americans. But it's a little too costly, so we should have the shitty insurance company health care.

Kristol- "No, what I'm suggesting-"

Stewart- "Or, no health care"
