I don't get it. Why aren't these elected pols afraid of us? Do they think we are as insipid as they are (probably) ? Maybe it's time to organize like the Pukes do instead of fighting over stupid issues that don't affect our everyday lives (like Michael Jackson) and concentrate on emails, phone calls, and letter writing like the Pukes do. I am just sick of spineless Dems worrying about the Conservatives in their districts instead of us the true base. And these so-called Blue Dogs, they need to be contacted every day until they wake up. It's too bad DU isn't as active as Move On, we could accomplish a lot. Instead we're simply no better than any of the social networking sites.

If they don't work for us get someone else, and tell them we will.

1. Far from placating the opposition, Republican politicians go out of their way to piss us off.
One example: Junior would say he wanted to reach out to us, and in the same sentence refer to us as the Democrat Party. Of course, this open and perpetual contempt reminded the Republican base just whose side he was on.

I'm not going to say Obama should be like the worst US president in living memory at least, and perhaps of all time. But it would be nice if Obama would throw us a bone every now and then. Maybe we'll start seeing that when we start to get close to the midterms.

3. DLC "Who The Fuck Else Are You Gonna Vote For, Dillweed?" Politics
Once an incumbent's in office, it's pretty well impossible for someone from the same party to beat them in the primaries - so the highest-probability course for Democrats is to stay one angstrom to the left of the Republicans, thus attracting as many votes from the center as possible, while relying on the Left to grimace but vote for them.

Only when we're willing/able to oust an incumbent in the primaries, or to vote for a left-facing third party, will today's "Democrats" give a damn about us.

4. Bush routinely did stuff that had no meaning other than to throw bones to
his base. Getting them whipped up and Liberals pissed off.

Pukes did what the lobbiest wanted but talked about what their freeper base wanted.

Dems do what the lobbiest want and talk about what the lobbiest want.

5. If you have donated in the past to DLC, DSCC, DNC...

Call them and get removed from thier calling and mailing lists. Going forward I will only contribute to individual progressive candidates.

They get enough calls...maybe they will realize that all the lobbyist money in the world won't get me to the ballot box or make me open my wallet or get me to put up a sign or knock on doors.

7. Obama won because of US small voters, but the DLC/DNC thinks we're chicken shit
Maybe if we started protesting out own chicken shit politicians they'd get the message? And Harry Reid it the biggest chicken shit in the party.

8. No. They don't go out of their way to please their base.

Their base is simply the suckers who fawn over money and power. The GOP hangs onto this base simply by ensuring that the rich get richer, which they were gonna do anyway.

9. The wingnuts complain about the same thing
I haven't been lurking over at Freeptardville for a long time, but I do remember how upset they were at Bush and McCain for favoring pro-amnesty policies for illegal immigrants. I would imagine that they're hopping mad at Lindsey Graham right now for his vote for Sotomayor, I'm sure the insults regarding his sexual orientation that I saw during the amnesty battle are being hurled around all over the place.

You have a country that is about 35-40% progressive, 35-40% conservative, and the rest of the people in a mushy middle, there to be swayed by one side or the other. This middle doesn't even bother to think about politics until the weekend before an election, and whoever scares them the most loses.

Last time around, it was the GOP that freaked out the mushy middle, they were sick of watching us lose people in war, and if Obama doesn't get Iraq/Afghanistan wrapped up quickly, he'll suffer the same fate no matter what else happens. I remember when LBJ was held responsible for Vietnam, by the time Watergate rolled around, it was something we all hated Nixon for.

Some districts are simply made up of a much greater percentage of mushy middlers than the 20 to 30 percent that I theorize. Districts that shift back and forth every few years would have to be defined that way.
