If you have donated to the DLC, DSCC, DNC...etc... |
|
I suggest calling and having your name, number and address removed from thier contact list. Take your money and Support individual candidates that are progressive. Right now we are taken for granted...that we will continue to hold our nose and vote for a Dem because the pain of the last president still stings.
How progressive was the bailout? No limits for the crooks that broke the banks to begin with. BTW look at unemployment...then look at some of the sick news about compensation and bonuses.
How progressive have we been with the war? Guantanimo? Torture?
How progressive is the health care debate?
How different are "blue dogs" and "republicans"?

1. Point of clarification. |
|
The DLC is not an official organ of the Democratic Party. It is an organization that operates independent of the Democratic Party itself and exists to push the Democratic Party towards more free trade.

2. I would never do that. |
|
I have donated in the past and I enjoy getting the calls and then explaining why I won't be donating again. They NEED TO KNOW when and why they've pissed people off.

I actually tried a few years back to get off all their lists. It didn't work. Then I figured, what the heck, let them know that I won't and why. One way or another, even if it is just a calculation of theirs of the "efficiency" of their list, I'm hurtin' 'em and they'll get some sort of message. I'm back to giving to individual candidates. It's kinda why I like DU during the elections. I hear about local candidates around the country and I find their own websites and give them cash. I'm gonna enjoy giving cash to Sestak.

3. Frankly my opinion is that instead of bailouts |
|
Those banks should have been broken up and sold and the executives charged under RICO and Antitrust laws.

4. Our Blue Dog Is About To Get The Message... |
|
A group of us have worked on her campaign since 2002...worked our asses off until she won and was always told, personally, "I'll be there for you". We talked about healthcare reform and she would say that this would be a priority if and when Democrats regained the House and then the White House. Now she's playing "on the fence"...getting donations from insurance lobbyists and thinking we're not paying attention. She's about to get a rude awakening.
We're planning to be at a town hall she's holding on Aug. 10...and the message is straight up...if we don't see a public option, no more money, no more phone banking, no more knocking on door, no more driving people to the polls. We're all ready to work for the first real progressive to primary her...and we'll work our asses off.
The game has been to get Democrats elected...now it's time for better Democrats.

The other day I got a large, color photo of the president. I can't remember what organization sent it & it's in the recycle bin now. :grr:

9. I've been voting for the 'lesser of two evils' for many, many years. |
|
When the repubs put up someone like Bush/Cheney or McCain/Palin, it doesn't feel so bad going to the polls to vote against someone, instead of for someone. So, I support a party that doesn't support me, in an effort to keep out a party that will support me even less. There are no other viable choices.
I don't know what I'll do in 2012, if Dick Cheney is still a free man, if the dems sell us out on health care, & if the repubs put up a total batshit crazy candidate. It seems that voting for the lesser of two evils is just putting off the inevitable. We're still on the same crash course, we're just approaching a little slower. What's the difference when you finally go over the cliff?
My hope is that Obama can change course before 2012 & maybe we will avoid the cliff altogether. But the trajectory isn't looking good right now.

12. I got a call from the DSCC last week. |
|
I told them not only would I not donate this time, but I was planning on sending money to primary their opponants, unless they start acting like Democrats. Was kind of fun. I got the feeling that the caller had heard that before. I hope they start getting the message.

13. No, stay ON their mailing lists, that way you have postage paid feedback you can give them... |
|
Just don't use their postage paid envelopes to send donations in. Use the same postage paid envelopes to send letters of why you aren't supporting them. Enough of us do that, I believe it gets noticed, and hopefully at some point by the right people that can make changes in some of these organizations' priorities, etc.
I recall earlier when these letters came in with a request to still put a stamp on these envelopes if you were sending a donation to help them keep their costs down. I'm wondering if that was also to help them lower the ratio of the number of postage paid envelopes sent back to be closer to the number of donations they received to keep this sort of action from being noticed by higher ups...
I'm almost tempted to send a change of address form to them now that I've moved so that I keep getting envelopes to do this sort of thing, even if I don't plan on making any donations.
